Bleaching my teeth..is there something going wrong??

yesterday i went to the dentist and got my home bleaching kit and i did everything the dentist told me to do. This morning after bleaching my teeth it didn't seem any whiter than before. Is there supposed to be any difference after the first day?

And after taking the molds out my teeth.. how long after can i brush my teeth or eat somethin?

Also afterwards at school i realized that on some of my teeth there are white lines at the bottom of my teeth is that supposed to happen?

Ohh and after how many days of using this kit will my teeth have an obvious difference in colour?

can someone please answer my questions

Bleaching my teeth..is there something going wrong??
It could take a couple of days to notice a difference. You should brush your teeth when you remove your trays. The white lines are normal, this is called the "splotchy stage" which means that some parts of your enamel are responding differently to the bleaching and are bleaching faster. If you continue you will see that soon the rest of your tooth will catch up.

If you have deep staining it could take a longer time to bleach your teeth, but the at-home kit is the best method for whitening. While it may take longer than in-office bleaching, it actually whitens more and will give you less side effects. This is professional bleaching.
Reply:It usually takes a couple of days before you see any difference in your teeth. Make sure you're not putting too much bleach in the trays and that the amount is the same for each tooth. I brush my teeth as soon as I take the trays out so I don't swallow too much of that stuff. Use a straw if you drink anything that could stain - coffee, tea, cola.
Reply:It takes a couple days. Save up money so then you can get it professionally done.

I hope it works out.

Good luck :)
Reply:it will take up to a week for noticeable difference, just be patient

your teeth should be brush and flossed before inserting bleaching trays

rinse immediately after removing trays

if you experience sensitivity, while bleaching you should decrease the time you have trays in your mouth

Whiter teeth?

I want to have whit er teeth and I`ve tried all the tooth-pastes which say `Whiter teeth in two week` washin my teeth twice a day,but with no results. Do you know any natural treatments because I am starting to give up whiting my teeth!

Whiter teeth?
i would say the best thing for you to do is that you go to your Dentist and ask them if they do whitten trays or the laser whittening. The laser treatment will give you results right away with mild sensitivity it will also whitten them by up to 4-6 shades in one sitting. But sometimes your dentist will also have a personal whittening tray you could use as well. They would take a impression and make a tray (kinda like a retainer) and a bleaching kit to go with it all you do is take it home and do it at home for about 1-2 hrs a day and they will whitten by 2 weeks. The trays do have some sensitvity when using them but not as much as the strips you buy in the store and its not so harsh on your teeth or gums...hope this helps
Reply:try going to the dental office and get a teeth whitening treatment
Reply:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neem
Reply:If you want to have whiter teeth, you have two ways to achieve it. You can buy teeth whitening products or you can have a dentist perform teeth whitening procedure. Using teeth whitening gel or toothpaste is cheap but you are not guaranteed results. Going to a doctor, on the other hand, may be a tad pricey but a dentist is trained and qualified to perform teeth whitening procedures with great results.

Some dentists use the laser teeth whitening process to whiten teeth. Before performing this teeth whitening procedure, your dentist will clean your teeth. Next gel will be applied to your teeth. The gel has strong whitening chemicals. After applying the gel, the dentist will place your teeth under a laser to accelerate the teeth whitening process. The Zoom laser, used by many dentists, causes teeth to whiten in less than an hour. With only a single session, you can have whiter teeth that will remain white for over a year.

Dentists are trained to find out the level of discoloration in your teeth. For your teeth whitening need, your dentist will be able to recommend a suitable treatment to make your teeth white. You will simply be wasting time and money trying all kinds of teeth whitening gels and toothpastes that bring no results. Sit with a dentist and get professional advice and results.

If you go to your dentist for a teeth-whitening procedure, your dentist will also be able to give you advice on how to maintain your new white teeth. While it's true that you will be spending a considerable amount of money when you go to a dentist, the cost is worth it because you will be getting quality service and advice.
Reply:dont waste more time,,

bleach it up , and leave your q behind.

Reply:use coal {grind coal} its best and gives a marvellous result u can see ur teeth whiter after a month and use twice a day thn after using brush ur teeth wth any gud tooth paste

its home remedy

trust me n use it
Reply:Yep a quick visit to the dentists for a bit of a clean up is always worth it.
Reply:the best way to get whiter teeth is to go to your dentist and get it bleached. i am a dental assistant, and there are basically two ways to whiten your teeth. there is the one where you get it whitened at your dentist (you could also go to any dentist if your dentist does not have it because a majority of insurances do not pay for cosmetic [whitening]) which takes about 1-2 hours. there is also a take home kit, where they take an impression of your mouth, and make a mold of your teeth and you wear the mold along with the whitening formula while you sleep.

those white strips things they sell at stores do not whiten as effectively, and it is uneven, so ur teeth will only be white in some spots, making your discolored teeth more noticeable.
Reply:To tell you the truth, it may be expensive (around $30), but Crest Whitestripes work WONDERS!

I used them when I was like 14 and up until I was like 17 people still asked if I had gotten my teeth whitened!

You should try them. You can buy them anywhere. Grocery stores, Wal-Mart, CVS-Rite-Aid types of stores....

Brits? Band teeth? Where di they get that from?

I just herd an american saying that brits have bad teeth, where did they get that from? In fact alot of british people have very clean teeth and everybody here brushes their teeth, i guess this is just another american attempt to dominate which isn't noticed, its because they are fustrated cause the world teese them about being so fat, but THAT is true, (they are the fattest nation) and look at mcdonalds and burgerking, so they get angry and make up some crappy joke about bad teeth, Yh ok whats next, another shameful attempt of american humor, Friends is bad enough... Look at "The Office" Brit comedy that dominates american humor, but they had to copy it... Americans... Yh ok you go around sayin crap about bad teeth, Yh ok...but at leats are insults are genuine... Wouldn't american's teeth be rotty, after all they eat all those pies and burgers and steaks...loool Evey knows americans want to dominate everything... but they just can't... Maybe in the world of McDonalds...haha

Brits? Band teeth? Where di they get that from?
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! I know plenty of british fellows and they all have perfect teeth. America just wants to be one up on everyone... and well... they just can't be... America is just a bunch of fatties with low self esteem... and they are jealous of the sexy accent ;)
Reply:Socialized Medicine does not cover dentistry. So Joe Brit doesnt visit the dentist regularly.
Reply:maybe you should take a peek at my gnashers!

I can count that the average Brit cares as much for his teeth as the average American.

Some Brits are dirty some Americans are too while the rest are clean.
Reply:Honestly I've noticed that too. Alot of Brits have bad yellow teeth! I mean no offense but this is sth I really have spotted. BTW I'm not American.
Reply:Americans, fattest yes, also cleanest, richest, smartest, strongest, most attractive. . . . shall I go on?

By the way, if you get an opportunity try a Cookout burger. I never need to even see another McDonald's.
Reply:Chill dude!

Brits in the 18th century didn't believe in toothpaste and never brushed their teeth, the tradition has been passed down and SOME (not very many...just a few) Brits still have bad teeth, It's alway been a running joke so just calm down

And FYI America came from England so you can just shut your little assinine face up and stop bad mouthing America, because guess what? We've still got more nukes than you so calm down
Reply:From their mothers, it comes from giving too much head to skanky Scotsmen, lmao. GOD BLESS THE IRISH!

Reply:Havent you read The Big Book of British Smiles, thatll make anyone want to brush there teeth
Reply:i dont think british people have bad teeth its a stereotype, but there was a show about fashion week and she had bad teeth. Now I am gonna go and try to lose 10 more pounds again becuase everyone says im fat, even the people who dont know me, but my doctor is nice she said im a little underweight
Reply:Try to remember that yanks also have bad teeth but everyone of them has had braces and exstensive dental cosmetic work to fix them. Maybe they think all brits have those horsey teeth like princess anne. I hear they say Aussies all have only half their teeth. Well I have 3/4 of mine.

TEETH PULLING... tomorrow. Help!!!!!?

ahhhhhh omg i'm getting two teeth pulled tomorrow and i've gotten them pulled before but i TOTALLY forgot how it felt and when i was little i was brave but now i'm not AT ALL. PLEASE answer if it hurts? (I'm getting a novacain shot not the gas) and how it feels afterward... stuff like that. oooomg i'm so freaked out,

also... i'm afraid because i was just on a cruise two weeks ago and could only brush my teeth once er twice a day for 2 weeks ( I usually do alot more) plus some mouth wash... and one tooth hurts when i eat but when i touch it it doesn't hurt. does this mean its a cavity??? i really don't want to get a filling, and teeth pulling in the same day. at. all.

DENTISTS IF YOU ANSWER I WILL BE VERY HAPPY!! if your not, i dc because i need all the advice i can GET!!! :]

wish me luck tomorrow...

TEETH PULLING... tomorrow. Help!!!!!?
Well first of all I am asuming the teeth you are getting pulled are baby teeth because that is what I had done. First, the shot. I got 4 and didn't even feel them. The rub a gel on your gums where the shot will be and then they do it. I couldn't feel a thing. (probably because I was practically crying and I was so scared) So if there is pain, it is very minor.

After you have waited about 10 minutes after the novacaine was given, they will pull the teeth. They use something that lools like pliers(don't let them scare you) and just simply pull them out. When they did mine (I had 2 pulled) I was waiting for some major pain, but they showed me the teeth they had already pulled before I knew they ever started! Completely painless for me! Way more of a mental pain and fear! Your mouth stays numb for a few hours afterward, not a big deal at all. It's kinda fun!

As for your tooth that hurts, I am not sure if it is a cavity or not. (try putting ice directly on it, amd see it if is sensitive. if it is, it's probably a cavity) If it is a cavity, They wouldn't fill it that same day unless it was a really rare occasion.

I hope this helped.

Best of luck to you!:)
Reply:Ouch! I really don't have any advice for you but I want to wish you good luck! I am sure you will be fine and experience very little if no pain. :-)
Reply:I had 2 teeth pulled about a year ago, and I am 21 and I know exactly what your going through. I was scared too...haha, but they gave me the shot..and I felt alot of pressure, and I told him it hurt and to give me another shot. And they did, so if you feel anything---stop them. and tell them to give you another one. haha, don't smoke or drink through a straw afterwards either for a while..and I am not going to lie, I cried. But I am okay now...haha, and I wish you luck!!!! Remember, it will help you out in the long run tho :)
Reply:its really not that bad, i had 8 teeth pulled, the needle is just a little pinch dont worry

good luck tho

i hold my moms hand sometimes lol
Reply:i am not a dentist but it sounds like you need to chill and not think about and if not bring some music to listen to or talk to your dentist about it and they will help you
Reply:you need to tell all your loved ones you love them and become one with god. I dont wish to tell you the outcome.
Reply:The Lidocaine will make a big difference. Make sure to tell the dentist to use a lot of topical which will numb the area where the shot will be. You can get nitrous oxide (laughing gas) too if you want to, a lot of people do and it helps to take their mind off of what's going on. Ask your dentist for a sample of sensodyne. Brush your teeth with it, but don't rinse, it needs to stay on the tooth for as long as possible. Try it for a couple weeks to see if it makes a difference.
Reply:first off...good luck!

now....the shot stings a little

you wont feel anything (except pressure) once the shot is over

its very num

afterwards, you feel like you're REALLY REALLY swollen, but you're not...it just feels like that...you look pretty normal....you'll be fine

take some painkillers when the num-ness wears off....you'll be fine

good luck again!
Reply:well.. I've had a lot of teeth pulled.. and it's more mental anxiety than pain. first they'll put this gel on your gums, and it will numb you pretty well.. if you're getting Novocaine, it would come next. Novocaine doesn't hurt so bad, it really is just a prick that you notice, you don't really feel pain from that. then, they'll pull out the teeth.. and by then you wouldn't feel anything. Good Luck at the dentist!
Reply:It wont be that bad. the shot will make it so you dont feel anything, you will probley just feel a little pressure. and (im not a dentist) the tooth that hurts when you eat sounds like a cavity to me.

hope that helps and good luck tomorrow, you will be fine!
Reply:ive had 20 teeth pulled cause the dentist wanted to try to get my teeth as straight as they could before braces.. but the shot is like a pinch after that like 3 minutes later it starts feeling weird and they will start wiggling it if i hurts still tell then and they will give you another shot.. for me it wasnt that it hurt it was the sounds the tooth makes when its coming outso bring your ipod or mp3 player and listen to the music and just dont think about it and it will be over faster
Reply:well first of all it doesn't really hurt. the novicane doesn't hurt if it is on the outside of your gum but if its on the inside, you might fell a little bit. by the way if you had a cavity it would hurt when you touched it too. i have to get braces on monday august 6, 2007 and i have to get two baby teeth pulled saturday august 4, 2007. since yours are baby teeth, it probably won't hurt. all you feel is some pressure when the dentist is pulling them out. my grandpa is a dentist and he always explains everything that he's going to do to so....if it makes you feel better, just ask your dentist to explain everything before he does it. i hope this helps.
Reply:I had a cavity filled and a tooth pulled last Monday morning. I heard all kinds of horror stories before going to the appointment. It was nothing. Having the cavity filled was much more involved than having the tooth pulled. The tooth being pulled reminded me of the sensation of having a hair tweezed without the sharp pain. Just the feeling of something sliding from its place.

Be sure to follow their directions for care afterward very carefully. I used an ice pack and took some pain killer before the numbing wore off, and I didn't have any swelling or pain.

Keep it in perspective. A week from tomorrow the teeth being pulled will just be a memory. You'll do great!
Reply:don't worry i got my tooth pulled today and all you have to do is keep pressure on it and ask them to tell you what they are going to do i had the exact same thing done a filling and two teeth pulled but now i am doing fine it feels first kind of like a push not hard though then its gone and they put more gel in your mouth and you are done P.S. this was my first time having a tooth pulled and having another pulled next week if the bleeding stays try a tea bag and i am only 11
Reply:The onlt thing that hurts about getting your teeth pulled is the novacaine injections. They will hurt I'm not gonna lie but they are quick and once the dentist is done with them you will be just fine. Th dentist will first (after your mouth is all numb and stuff) test the tooth to make sure there is no pain and then they will pull it. You will only feel pressure. I know that that sounds weird like how can I only feel pressure but it is true. Getting teeth pulled doesn't hurt, trust me. I got 4 teeth oulled for my braces and I was only supposed to get 2 pulled one Friday and then a week later get the other to pulled I just told the dentist, after she was done with the first two, to just go ahead and do the other two. It really doesn't hurt. I was all nervous like you are but believe me you will be fine. The extraction sites will bleed for a while and your lips will feel all fat from the novacaine but all of that will stop. Just make sure that you listen to the dentist's instructions after you get your teeth pulled and you will be fine.

As for the cavity thing I don't know but I know that if you do have a cavity they will not fill the cavity AND pull your teeth. They will set up different appointments...at least I think?!?!

Teeth Whitening?

My teeth are very yellow. It seems like no matter what I do or how often I brush my teeth, they won't whiten. I have crowns on my 2 front teeth so I don't think I can use crest whitestrips. I brush my teeth very often with no results, what should I do outside of crest whitestrips or power bleaching?

Teeth Whitening?
Unless you are willing to change your crowns, especially because they are on your front teeth, you may not want to whiten your teeth. If you do then, Zoom (in office bleaching is the best way). Don't waste your money on over the counter stuff. Also, you can get bleaching trays from your dentist. If you are willing to spend the money go for it!!! I am sure it will look great. Good Luck.
Reply:The best way to bleach your teeth is at the dentist office with ZOOM. Any crowns you have will not bleach, the only way to lighten them is to get new ones. ZOOM is a very good product and it usually lightens teeth between 4-8 shades.
Reply:you can crush strawberries and then put them on your teeth thats suppose to help.

Teeth Bleeching with braces...?

Straight forward, I have very healthy teeth. No cavities or anything. But I did inherit my fathers not so great colored teeth. His arent bad, just not white. As for me, mine arent yellow or anything like that.. Just theres alot of room for improvement.

I brush 3 times a day using Crest active white. I also use Teeth whitner before I brush and Mouthwash afterwards... I also have braces so theres no option to really use whitestrips or anything for a quicker whiter smile.

I guess what im really asking is, Whats the best/ Safest way to get white teeth without having to use as many products as im currently using?

Teeth Bleeching with braces...?
Save your money. You don't want to bleach while you still have braces because simply put, you can't bleach the part under the brackets and you don't want to have polka-dotted teeth! I have actually known someone, although this is the reverse, that smoked too much when she had braces her teeth were white under the brackets when they took them off and yellow around them. Yuck!

But, I think a good multi-function toothpaste is your best bet, meaning anti-cavity, anti-plaque, and whitening. If you do want to spend a little money to keep them as white as possible during the braces, buy Rembrandt or another higher end toothpaste. Furthermore...floss!

Another good piece of advice...stay away from dark, heavy, sugary drinks like colas and coffee. These can stain your teeth like crazy. Good luck!
Reply:wait until after your braces and use the whitestrips. if they don't work, I suggest saving up to get them professionally bleached (if you're really serious about it)
Reply:USING SOME OF THE OTC WHITING PRODUCTS IS A GOOD PLACE TO START
Reply:Do NOT try to whiten your teeth while you have braces on. The area under the brackets will still be the original color of your teeth and even professional bleaching may not get the whole tooth the same color if you are bleaching the exposed area and not whats under the bracket. Just be patient and wait till they come off, then go ahead with the bleaching and they will look great.
Reply:I used the crest night paint. It was easier than the strips and you paint it on. I agree with everyone else that you'll bleach the teeth and it'll look funky after brace removal. I worked with a fellow dental assistant who bleached her teeth and the dentist hadn't removed all of her composite/cement from her braces. Her teeth were nicely spotted. Remember to take before and after pics to properly determine effectiveness of bleach; you don't want to end up like Ross on the show "Friends" Also you may be too hard on yourself; your teeth may be white to everyone else but just not you...Don't forget to research bleaching so that for any side effects that you're prepared (tooth sensitivity, gum sensitivity, etc.)
Reply:I wouldn't work so hard at the moment to go for whiter teeth. Keep them healthy, brush as often as you do of course, but using multiple products to give you whiter teeth right now will only result in polka-dot teeth when you get the braces off.

I'd use a simple one and wait it out. While it's something you notice, few people actually notice a person's tooth coloring when there's braces there anyway.

After the braces, absolutely do whatever you want to get your teeth white. I would suggest, if you're really serious about it, sticking with the professional whitening. The toothpaste, gels, strips, all that other stuff has little if any effect.
Reply:you should just wait until you get the braces taken off because if you do get them whiter, then they will most likely be discolored under the part where the bracket was...and plus, when you get your braces off, they are probably going to give you a bleaching kit so you can restore your teeth to a whiter color...
Reply:Check out http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/40424269/. They might be able to save you quite a bit of $$$ on a professional bleach job. They offer very cheap discount plans that can save you up to 80% on your dental work. You can just get the benefits for the bleach job and then leave. It's less than $12/month. I have benefits through them and they're awesome. Check the website for providers in your area.
Reply:I agree with what most everyone here is saying.

You definitely do not want to bleach your teeth while you have braces on. Stay away from whitning toothpastes and rinses. When your braces come off, the areas under where your brackets are placed will have maintained the original color of your teeth and they will probably look worse than if you had just waited.

Just be patient and then you will have a beautiful and straight smile
Reply:I think it would be a lot smarter to do it after wearing your braces. You may use Crest White Strips sample. It's effective! But if you want to learn more about the product tips and details, you may check out this site http://www.upkb.com/crestwhitestrips.php

My babys teeth losing enamel?

my son is 16months old.. never drinks juice out of his bottles.. and when he does have juice its unsweetened kind and very weak... but his teeth seem to be losing the enamel off them.. leavin like a discoloured stump.. it first started when he fell and chipped his bottom 2 teeth, i took him 2 dentist and they said they was only small chips and hardly notiveable as the teeth grow.. now i.ve noticed the top 2 teeth have alike a quare piece of enamel missing. he has.t banged his teeth at all today and it was not like that this mornin when i brushed his teeth.. worried mom here. will be makin app at dentists soon as poss.. any1 know what can be causing this 2 happen

My babys teeth losing enamel?
He may have chipped the front teeth without you knowing, at 16 mos children are usually starting to walk and could very well be that he tripped and chipped, or he could be a clencher. If he already chipped his lower incisor, his bite could also be edge to edge (upper and lowers come together on the edges) and that would also make him more suseptible to chipping those front teeth.

Check with your DDS and see if he can give you the real answer, this could be many different things, but regardless get him checked to be on the safe side, Good luck!
Reply:be like britney spears and get his teeth whitened.

oh what a great mother you'll be. :]
Reply:I would think it to be a calcium deficiency...either he doesn't get enough calcium intake or it could be a genetic thing...I actually have to take supplements because my body won't properly absorb calcium...my brother has the same problem.
Reply:the same thing happened to my best friend's son. And he was a STRICTLY breastfed baby. He ended getting his top four teeth capped. I guess it's all in the genes. Her pediatric dentist told her that it was just one of those things that can happen, even with the best of nutrition and hygiene.
Reply:could be to much fluoride.......juices,cokes,sleeping with bottle with drink and falling asleep with drink pooling in his mouth.....
Reply:The problem is quite possibly that after u brush his teeth u are letting him have a bottle when he lies down. Milk, juice and soda all contribute to this problem. However, it's the activity brought on by the enzymes in the babies mouth that cause the damage.

Brush the child's teeth before bed, and only allow water in the bottle. The child's teeth should be brushed again after he wakes up, and after each meal.

Teeth whiteing Question?

If I brush my teeth with arm %26amp; hammer's whiteing toothpaste and use baking soda to brush my teet, without drinking soda or juice for a long time would I have white teeth?:

Teeth whiteing Question?
Maybe as long you don't smoke
Reply:Your teeth would most likely get whiter. Try the new Aquafresh whiteners. They are great. In less than 3 days (what they project) to see a difference, I was getting compliments. The kit has 7 days worth of applications and it is suggested that you use it twice a year. It is ADA approved. Hope this helps. Keep smiling.
Reply:Not necessarily. The base color of some people's teeth actually isn't white; it can be like an off-white or beige.
Reply:If a person drinks coffee, tea, red wine, cola, or if a person smokes, then the teeth will gradually become duller again. It's just a matter of time, depending on how much one indulges.

Small white stains on teeth?

I get these small white stains on th surface of my teeth, I mostly see them on my front teeth but i think there might be some on my back teeth too. I don't know why they're there.

I take minocin for pimples, and apparently there's a side effect for brown, blue, or grayish stains on teeth, but mine are very white.

Anyone know why? Could there be different reasons like taking calcium or vitamins? And does it go away? Because they've been there for almost a year now.

Small white stains on teeth?
Its normal, it has to do with calcium. I have it to, i have it on my front teeth. It is nothing to worry about.
Reply:I'm not positive but I think it might have something to do with plaque eating away at some of your tooth enamel and they're called white spots or something, I have some on my teeth and I'm PRETTY sure that's what my dentist said. No big deal.

Wisdom teeth?

i have some very painfull wisdom teeth comeing through...now one of them has cut enough of the gum to create like a flap of gum over the top of the tooth and the gum flap kind of sits in the dip in the tooth.....now i do clean my teeth but i lifted the flap up to see if maby i could pull it off (i couldnt coz its still very much a part of the gum) and saw plaq under there and when i dug it out ( after trying to clean it out with a tooth brush) it smelled really bad...is there anything i can do,,,i dont have a dentist, and its very difficult to get one.

Wisdom teeth?
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but you do need to find yourself a dentist. I know how hard it is to find one, but they're out there, and they are pretty good about working with you. I suggest if you can, try going to an office that's through the county/state (however they do it), and checking out their sliding fee, or apply for medicaid if you don't have dental insurance.

Make sure you rinse your mouth very well after brushing, but try to avoid messing too much with that tooth back there. It needs cleaned obviously, but you poking around back there might cause infection and then you'll probably have to see a dentist anyway.

I highly suggest seeing about having your wisdom teeth pulled. You really don't need them, and they can be very hard to take care of. Call around and get some estimates and make sure to ask about payment plans %26amp; such.

Best of luck to you.
Reply:that sounds dangerous. I know you said its hard to get a dentist but you should try. You dont want to let that get any worse. To ease the pain and clean it out gargle salt water. My Ortho told me to do that when I first got my braces on. Good luck!
Reply:Just leave it alone and brush your teeth with tooth paste added with two drops of clove oil and everything would be normal.
Reply:yes go to your chemist and buy yourself a bottle of corsodyl mouthwash and gel rinse your mouth out at least three times a day with the mouthrinse and then with a clean cotton bud apply some of the gel to the affected area and allow it to soak in. Also as an extra aid you can rinse your mouth with hot salt and water as many times as possible throughout the day this will help keep the affected area as clean as possible .
Reply:Better get a dentist before infection causes more problems. I had wisdom teeth and they were pulled. Two at a time. Those teeth cannot be maintained by normal brushing. If it stinks better go and get medication and get them removed.

Check oral surgeons -- goo idea...

My teeth are still in a bad way even after treatment?

My teeth were cleaned by a dentist who left darkish shallow sockets in my teeth. These were re-cleaned but there still remains one tooth that has the same black, darkened material and I can't get rid of it. I've heard that this is caused by decay. I recently has all new fillings but still this tooth remains- what can I do to clean it when the Dentist left it like this? Also, since my fillings on my lower teeth, my jaw hurts like hell. Near to where I need a RC. I've got to wait till end of May till my next appointment - would the NHS pay for treatment if I needed it now? The gums hurt

My teeth are still in a bad way even after treatment?
gargle with warm salt water
Reply:Rinse with warm sea-salt water solution and/or perioxide. Also, get some stem cell nutrition to repair your gums.

Whitening Teeth?

I asked my dentist the other day how much he would charge to whiten my teeth. His reply was that he don't offer the service because he don't agree with it. He says the bleech damages your enamel. Also that he thought people look silly with fake looking pearly white teeth, saying it didn't look natural. I smoked cigs for years and quit within the past year. I wish to get my teeth looking white again. But I don't want to damage them either. What are you opinions about the over the counter whiteners? Do the strips that you put on your teeth do good and do they get in between the gaps of my teeth? I appreciate any responses!

Whitening Teeth?
My dentist recommended Crest Whitestrips. When I used them, I pushed them so that they covered all the parts of each tooth. They didn't help me.

My teeth are so sensitive that even using them once now causes a severe pain in my gums that takes days to go away. The hygienist says that most people take Tylenol for the pain.

This has been cut and pasted from Prevention.com.

Although more than a third of adults worry that professional teeth whitening will damage their enamel, research suggests that their fears are unfounded. "There's overwhelming evidence that, when used as directed, bleaching does not cause permanent damage to the teeth or gums," says Edmond R. Hewlett, DDS, consumer adviser for the ADA and an associate professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry (and Schlater-Hewlett's husband).

The article goes into side effects and tells the pros and cons of different whitening methods. Problems stem from overuse, sensitivity, using them with a cavity, and expecting your teeth to stay white forever.

Good luck.
Reply:I am not an expert, but I have used Crest white strips when I feel I need to for the past few years and they work!!! I have had so many people compliment me on my white teeth. The results are amazing. I know this if you have decay, it is best not to use them.

To get in the gaps I would push the strip down and in between with my nail and that worked for me.

Your teeth will stay white for a long time afterward. Maybe longer if you don't smoke or drink coffee or tea.

I have heard it is damaging to the enamel if used often.
Reply:If you don't wanna damage your teeth, try brushing your teeth with strawberries. It's a natural and tasty way to whiten your teeth.
Reply:Actually your dentist is correct, and even the whitening strips do cause you to gain some sensitivity. The crest white strips work, but they do make the bottom of your teeth hurt a bit , but that will go away after you stop using them. They have some new ones out there that you are supposed to only need to use for about a week, which would help your case, since the older ones, you had to wear for about a month.
Reply:Do not try or do any of the whitening product..

trust me.. last 2 years i did The laser whitening ‘power whitening’.This Laser whitening make my teeth up to five or six shades lighter. i was so happy after i did it.. but after 5-6months, i start feel the pain, sensitives to all kind of sweet food and cold drinks.. after i checked with my regular dentist, i found out that the bleach and that laser not only makes my teeth bright and white.. it also created 17 small holes on my teeth.. why did int dentist include this invention on their ads?? i wonder why....

don't do any of it.. or u'll b sorry..

HELPP....17 teeth pulled and partials put in the same day!!!?

YES i know i have already posted something on this before, but on march 26th iam having to get 17 teeth out and ITS ALL MY BACK TEETH, i have about 5 that are to the GUM LINES, has anyone ever had this many taken out with just getting shots of the numbing and a little gas, how do they pull a tooth, and also i have an overbite my front teeth are FINE do not need to be pulled, bu ti would love to get my overbite fixed, can i get them straight with something other than getting them all pulled out....PLEASE HELP ME!!!! and how does bad teeth make you feel, cause i think the reason i feel like BLAH all the time may be a leading cause of my BAD DECAYED TEETH:-(

HELPP....17 teeth pulled and partials put in the same day!!!?
My father-in-law had 15 teeth pulled out all at same time and had dentures put in immediately after that, he got nummed a little and a little gas, he said they gave him prescription of vicodin that he took as prescribed and he felt fine after taking them and after a few days he wasnt in any pain except in his jaw a little from them pulling on the teeth, youll be fine :) good luck
Reply:we cannot help you, find another dentist
Reply:my father had all of his teeth pulled in one day.
Reply:OMG!!!
Reply:sounds like dentist propaganda if you ask me... ORAL B for the win!! To get rid of the pain you should get on Yahoo answers directly after having the operation...
Reply:ummm they shouldnt be putting them in the same day, your gum needs time to heal!!!!!!!!!

I have only had a few teeth pulled %26amp; they numb your gums first with a needle (close your eyes!!) then pull them out. LOL you will feel a kind of grinding sensation %26amp; your jaw will feel like it is going to pop out of place but it is over rather fast.

Yep, your bad teeth would be the reason for the BLAh feeling lol you will be amazed at how good you feel without the decayed teeth in. No more headaches or neck pain...its a whole new world ;o)

I would get a seond opinion about getting the partials in on the same day, the gums will be swollen %26amp; need to heal!!!!!
Reply:Yes, I responded to your last dental question. When I had all mine out, I was advised to go 6 months with no plate so as to let the gums settle. Putting a plate in straight away has gotta be sore as the swelling can't have gone down yet.
Reply:Wow. 17 teeth?, good luck with that, its not painful when they pull your teeth out, you wont feel anything, except the shots they give you before they do... But the pain after they do it is so terrible, they will probably give you some heavy duty pain medications like Vicadin, or Oxycottin. You can fix your overbite with braces, but you dont even have any teeth to attach them to, I say first worry about fixing those 17 teeth, or get them all removed and get a full impant, which costs around 50 thousand dollars, no insurance covers it, because it isnt necissary. Or you can get dentures. If you arent going to get the full implant an are going to wear the fake teeth then just get the 17 out, and dont waste your other good ones... Good luck and I hope this helped.
Reply:All i can say is you should brush your teeth daily and every after meals... consult a dentist don't let yourself decide what to do cause in the first place you will be the one spending money i mean spending more if you pull all the black or destroyed teeth you have..... Just consult a dentist thats a the very good thing and advice to get.... oohh yeah one thing tooth decay can cause bad breath to but some on your tongue or the food you eat...
Reply:who the heck removes 17 teeth at the same time? I know many people that have had wisdoms removed, and that was under general anaesthetic, not local. After that their faces swelled up for about a week and pain subsided after about 2 weeks. Hope you got a second or third professional opinion on this! As for the overbite, you could probably have those grinded down a bit.
Reply:Honestly, It's gonna be a rough day for you. I'd ask the dentist if they could give you something to make you relax. They can give you a pill to take an hour or so before you come in to help you relax. Of course someone else will have to drive you. The decayed teeth can definitely make you feel blah.... Also make your breath horrible. If these teeth can't be saved, then its time to do this. The dentures will be hard to get used to, but you will over time. Just make sure you go back to your dentist to have them "re-lined" over the weeks and months after you get them, because the healing process will change the shape of your gums and they will start not to fit properly and move around when you eat and cause blisters. So make sure you go for your follow up visits. Good luck!!!
Reply:Before i got my braces i had to get 2 teeth pulled. Its not as bad as you think, first they give you a shot in your mouth that makes you mouth numb, then they use some screw driver type thing to loosen the tooth, then they pull it out. You dont really feel anything. the only bad part of getting teeth pulled is that for about 3 days you have 2 rest and not do anything becuase the teeth pulling does something to you. Its all about how mentally preped you are before the pulling, if you think your screemish and dont like the thought of getting your teeth pulled then you can be asked to be knocked out or take some meds that make you unaware of whats happening during the pulling. Now this is from the perspective of 2 teeth being pulled and Im not sure of what its like having 17 pulled. All I can say is good luck and just prepare yourself mentally, remeber its no big deal, everyone gets their teeth pulled one in a while. Just bring someone with you to the dentist so they can drive you home.
Reply:that is alot for one day! I can tell you that you are not going to be happy that day. It probably will not hurt when they are doing it, but it will be sore later. Another thing, you will probably be upset when you see the gaps for the first time. my mother has partials; it took her a little time to just used to the partials, aswell as the missing teeth. It's gonna feel weird the first time you eat too. Good luck; I would probably get a second opinion first.
Reply:I can relate ; I grind my teeth at night and have had several extractions recently with with bridge work...The grinding has made them all wear down at once. Also getting a permanent mouth piece for wearing at night. It does make you feel pretty 'blah' ...poor teeth can cause headaches, simply eating can hurt.

I wish I could 'help' more...try and look forward to when this is finished and how much better you will feel. Get something for the pain...don't over due that. And ask allot of questions of your Dentist...he's getting paid well and should help ease your mind about some of this. Best of luck. And if you'd like, feel free to e-mail me about this.
Reply:All I can say is "Wow". These answers are blowing my mind! Until "Perryfam" (and those after who replied while I was typing this novel). The first few......................whoa!

First, it never hurts to get a second opinion but keep in mind, you can see 15 different dentists and get 15 variations of what you need done. Not to knock any of them mind you. Periodontists provide a valuable service and I have a tremendous respect for them but sometimes their idea of success is extraction. If a tooth isn't there, it can't be a problem. I just feel they are a little jumpy to extract sometimes. I've had patients with an 11 mm pocket for 20+ years. The tooth is sturdy and doesn't bleed--we leave it alone. A periodontist would probably want to pull it. A good dentist will try to save as many teeth as possilbe because SOME teeth is always better than NO teeth especially when it comes to bone level.

But, if you have sever bone loss and have neglected your teeth for years, it is possible to have to pull 17 teeth at once. This is most likely the cause of you feeling so blah! It's amazing the way the condition of the mouth affects your whole body. If there is infection, it really drains you. You will be AMAZED at how good you feel overall after those bad teeth are gone. Also, it's not uncommon to fit dentures/partials the same day. That way your gums heal to the plate and you are more likely to get a good fit You will still need re-lines in the future most likely--all of them do. It's not uncommon to have all this done under local anesthetic (and nitrous if desired) or some may opt to go to an oral surgeon, sleep through it and let the general dentist make the partials/denture. In this case we may make the partial/denture ahead of time and send it with the patient for the oral surgeon to place after extractions. It's up to the patient to decide whether to let the dentist or oral surgeon do this.

You pull a tooth by slowly wiggling the tooth back and forth until it loosens in the socket and then it is lifted out. You should only feel the initial injection (unless he's REAL good and then you won't even feel that) and some pressure but no pain. If it hurts--let him know. It's NOT a torture test! If the roots break (less common with bone loss) there may be some digging and possibly a few stitches. I know it sounds awful to think of having that plate placed immediately but most patients do much better than they think. Your dentist should give you some pain meds in case but Advil/Tylenol may be enough. You WILL get sore spots! Go back to your dentist as much as it takes and have them adjusted until they feel good. Don't worry about being a pest. It should be included in your fee. It doesn't take long and can make a world of difference in your comfort. And WEAR YOUR PARTIALS! They will feel awkward at first but you have to tough out the adjustment period and eventually uoou won't even notice them and you will feel naked without them.

I would get your mouth healthy before you worry about your overbite.

Also, for long term--don't rule out implants. Whether they are for some teeth or all of them. They have made wonderful advances in this field with much success and much less time involved. This is the closest thing to your natural teeth and keeps the bones level up where it should be. No teeth-eventually no bone to hold a denture or partial (especially the lowers). Most insurances don't cover them but more and more are starting to (I feel EVERY one of them should). They ARE neccessary for some people! If they aren't covered, many offices have payment plans available.

You don't say your age but you should really get your mouth in working order, no matter the cost and then KEEP it healthy. You need these teeth for many years to come! You should really try to stay out of a denture if any way possible. I wish you the best of luck. Be brave, ask lots of questions and be comfortable with the answers. It won't be as bad as you think and will be worth it in the long run!

Teeth brushing?

Well, I was just thinking and theoretically..say someone had really yellow teeth. If this person brushed their teeth non stop (with an electric tooth brush) for like 24 hours..how would that affect their teeth?Would they be whiter?Would they be damaged?

Teeth brushing?
After about 10 minutes, the gums would be puffy and starting to swell up. A little while later, they would start to bleed. The pain would be really intense and you would probably have to stop.
Reply:they would be really clean, if not damaging some of the enamel. the best way to go about whitening is to get crest whitestrips, (they really work!) or to see your dentist for the professional whitening, but be warned, it isnt cheap.
Reply:This would be terrible for your teeth and your gums. If you want to whiten get bleaching trays at the dentist they work great and only cost about 150.00 or buy some crest whitening strips at any local drugstore. Good luck
Reply:If you were to brush your teeth for 24 hours, you would wear the teeth as if you had brushed them for 5 minutes a day for 288 days. If you did it only once, and assuming that you were using a soft brush, stayed only on the enamel, and didn't overheat the teeth, that would not be significant. What's unknown here is the effect of not having time in between brushings for the tooth surface to remineralize. Brushing does abrade a small amount of the surface enamel that mostly restores itself between brushings through the action of fluoride and minerals in your mouth. Your gums would really start hurting after 5-30 minutes depending on the current state of your gum health and your brushing technique. Since most significant yellow staining is not just on the surface of the teeth but also on the inside, you could brush until doomsday and not get them whiter. If the yellow was due to lots of plaque on your teeth, they'll be whiter in a couple of minutes. If it's due to more tenacious surface staining such as cigarettes, etc. it would take longer, but not nearly a whole day!

My teeth hurt when eating fruit?

Hi ! I have a big big problem. While i`m eating fruit (cherries, oranges, strawberriesetc) , my teeth start hurting like hell. after the fruit have been eaten, whenever i try to "use" my teeth again i have again a terrible pain. Basicaly, whatever i eat after fruit make my teeth hurt. sometimes so bad, that i spend days without eating anything because of the pain. i don`t want to have a no-fruit diet, it`s not healthy. my body needs fruit, but my teeth detest them. Any cure? What should i do to my teeth after eating fuit? so that i can eat afterwards something else without excruciating pain? any good answer is welcome, as i can`t take this any more. (may your answers not contain the word "dentist" ... i have an appointment next month but that`s just too much to wait.)

My teeth hurt when eating fruit?
try brushing with a toothpaste like Sensodyne
Reply:use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth
Reply:I suggest you try brushing with Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste or regular Sensodyne if you can't afford the Pronamel.
Reply:It cood b that your teeth react badly to citric acids, go see a doctor (not the dentist) it cood b the nerve endings in your teeth.
Reply:switch to smoothies. fresh fruit and ice blended together with fruit juice, this way you can drink your fruit through a straw. drinking through straws is recommended by dentists because it greatly reduces the amount of drink your teeth actually touch.

anbesol will work to numb your teeth if you are having trouble eating, put some on your toothbrush and brush your teeth before you eat. this might numb your tongue as well though and you may not taste the food as much.

BAD teeth what can i do?

hi, i try burshing daily and sometimes flossing but i cant helo its my mother and father both had bad teeth. So my question is how can i improve my cavities and teeth condition is there something i can do to make my teeth stronger consume? i have like 4 root canals and four crowns and many cavities and im only in my 20s but my teeth are very nicely structured and you cant tell that i has extensive dental work. what can i consume or do to make my teeth healthier i dont want dentures until im at least 50. please help!!! thanks

BAD teeth what can i do?
You need to brush twice every day, in the morning and at night. You also need to floss EVERY DAY, not just sometimes. You could also use a fluoride mouthwash to help, rinse with it for 1 minute each day.

Try not to consume too much in the way of sugar, and if you are eating sugary snacks, eat them after a main meal. Each time you eat, your teeth are attacked for 1 hour. If you only eat sugary things after meals, your teeth are only exposed for 3 hours each day, and they can deal with this. If, however, you snack on sweets or drink soda throughout the day, your teeth are constantly under attack from the sugar and acid, and you'll end up with a mouth full of cavities, which it sounds like you already have!
Reply:Go to the dentist to geta good cleaning, egt those whitening strips... brush.. lay off the rottin food.
Reply:go to the dentist
Reply:I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD TO DRINK MILK...IT HELPS BUILD HEALTHY TEETH AND BONES...BUT IF YOU CAN'T DO MILK TRY BRUSHING IN THE MORNINGS AND BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP. AND IF THAT DON'T WORK THE DENTIST IS YOUR ONLY OTHER OPT.
Reply:Brush with a soft toothbrush only. My dentist said that brushing is overrated. There is no need to brush your teeth more then once or twice a day. He also said DO NOT SCRUB. You can try using fluoride rinse after brushing (Act Kids) and drinking tap water for the fluoride. You can also take a multivitamin.

Whitening Teeth?

I am getting married in June of 08 and I want to whiten my teeth for the picutres. I did not like the crest white strips. Putting gel on my teeth makes me gag. I am looking for a cheap way to whiten them. Is there toothpaste that will change the color of my teeth. I currently use crest whittening expressions if I brush 3 times a day will that help me teeth at all? Thanks!

Please do not tell me to go to the dentist or try strips for my teeth.

Whitening Teeth?
Dentists don't want you to know that you can whiten your teeth at home with a simple solution of peroxide and baking soda.
Reply:I know you dont want to hear that you should go to the dentist, but I went about 6 years ago, got the overnight kit and did it al the way through and my teeth are still whiter than anyone I know. If it is that important to you...it may be worth it....also, I have looked on ebay before for my fiance (getting married in July 08) because he doesnt want to take pics next to me with my teeth...and I have found you can order really cheap custom bleaching trays and the bleach. Its worth checking...he is doing it right now...and it seems to be working...
Reply:You can use a little bit of baking soda and a little bit of peroxide. Form like a light paste and brush your teeth with it. Don't use it too much, it might burn your gums

Or make a paste with lemon and salt.

My teeth are chipping?

I have no idea how or when, I don't purposely grind my teeth and I never catch myself doing it.

it's on my top teeth and the shape of the chips match my bottom teeth perfectly. apparently I'm subconsciously doing it. it's not the shape when i put my front teeth together naturally, but rather when i slide my jaw some. it's very embarassing to me because I always had such nice teeth and now they're nasty looking.

What can I do about the chips I have now? What can I do to prevent this type of thing in the future?

My teeth are chipping?
if your teeth are chipping, i think it would be better to ask a docter very soon and maybe they could solve the problem.
Reply:You are grinding your teeth. Not purposely of course, but you are definitely at night. I have the same problem. See a dentist and get a night guard..
Reply:You are probably grinding or clenching your teeth at night when you sleep, The dentist can reshape the chipped parts and fit you with a night guard to help you break the habit.

Adult teeth coming in behind baby teeth?

My son who just turned 8 in Nov came and showed me his first loose tooth he has adult teeth coming in behind the bottom front teeth does he need to see a dentist and have the baby teeth removed%26gt;?

Adult teeth coming in behind baby teeth?
I think it depends on how the adult teeth are forming. If the baby teeth are getting in the way and making the adult teeth not straight then they might have to do some pulling. I would call your dentist and just ask them what you should do, either wait till the baby teeth fall out or make an apointment.
Reply:definately make an appt. w/ the dentist. That happened to me as a child and my mom did not take me,and now I have an upper tooth that kind of sticks out.
Reply:yes see a dentist .but sometimes a dentist will leave the baby teeth in and eventually, the bigger will push out the baby ones, dentists don, like to take out these teeth.
Reply:The baby teeth will fall out as the adult teeth push through. Normal for children of that age. Didn't you have baby teeth????
Reply:My experience would say it's normal. Here is an on-line dentist's answer. His website is below.

Answer

Nothing to worry about here. This is a very common condition.

When the primary teeth are lost, the tongue will put the permanent teeth into their correct position. Whether or not you want to hasten the loss of the primary teeth is a decision between you and a dentist. Nothing I can help with at this distance. However, i can assure you that no matter how strange it may look, everything will work out well, and there is no rush to have anything done.

Dr. Moss
Reply:ya its happend to me b4 wen i was a kid u just go to the dentist and get them pulled out its
Reply:You COULD get the dentist to pull it but, if it's already loose, just encourage your son to wiggle it just a little bit (haha reminds me of a song... anyway....) every day while he's watching tv or whatever. It will come out and there shouldn't be any problems. The adult tooth will come down in its place. It's a very simple procedure to get it taken out by the dentist, but s/he would still have to freeze it and would still cost the same as a regular extraction.
Reply:Yes, if he can't get it out on his own.

The permanent teeth are supposed to help push the baby teeth out. It's not an emergency situation, but try to get him to the dentist soon.

How can i get white teeth?

What is a cheap and safe way to get white teeth? I hate having yellow teeth. I am looking for a home do-it-yourself kit, but i have read so many bad things about them. What exactly are those kits doing to your teeth? Are they just basically dying them? Do they not remove the plaque? Why exactly are my teeth yellow? I don't drink coffee and have never smoked. Do you think it has something to do with eating to much sugar, and up until the age of 16 (i'm now 20), i only used to brush my teeth once a day?

How do all the celebs get their teeth white? How are simon cowells so white?

I think teeth are what makes a person. I am pretty sure if jessica alba had average teeth, she would not be the world sexiest woman.

How can i get white teeth?
LOVE Crest Night Effects...I didn't have much luck with the strips. I would just get mad at them and pull them off.

Crest Night Effects is a teeth whitener that works while you sleep, so it fits conveniently into your schedule. You'll have a whiter smile without giving up valuable time during your busy day. The competitive daytime paint-on teeth whitener is water-soluble so it may dissolve quickly. Normal daytime activities such as eating and drinking — even your own saliva — can wash most of the whitener away in as little as five minutes. So while you're waiting for the ordinary daytime whitener to dry, your already-too-busy schedule has just gotten crazier.

Using Crest Night Effects is as easy as getting ready for bed and going to sleep. Just brush your teeth as you normally would.

I saw a difference within days....Its a two week thing just like everything else but within 2 weeks your teeth are so white. People were always asking if I got them bleached...or saying that I had the whitest teeth they had seen.

Here is some information about them from the site...

Crest Night Effects is a teeth whitening system. You'll get a noticeably whiter smile while you sleep over 14 nights.* It even works on tough, everyday stains, including coffee and tobacco. Why is Crest Night Effects so effective at teeth whitening? The secret is our patented LiquidStrip Technology™ coating that stays on your teeth overnight. It whitens teeth at home, while you sleep.

The Color of Your Teeth

When you look at your teeth, the color you see is more than just the color of the surface. Because the top enamel layer is translucent, the color beneath is also visible. And since the things we eat and drink contain coloring agents that actually soak into our teeth, the layer beneath the surface of the enamel becomes stained, too. Juice, coffee, tar and tobacco for those who smoke, all contribute to making your teeth look yellow and dingy.

Teeth Whitening Dilemmas

Teeth whitening toothpastes and products only clean the surface of your teeth and don't have any way to actually whiten the stains below the surface of the enamel. Special whitening systems are available to penetrate the enamel — including paint-on systems. Many of these are water-soluble, though, and mostly dissolve away in as little as five minutes when they come into contact with saliva.

The Crest Night Effects Difference

Crest Night Effects' unique gel forms a LiquidStrip™ coating. The water-resistant coating holds the teeth whitening agent in place, slowly releasing hydrogen peroxide while you sleep. The LiquidStrip coating works to remove stains and loosen stain-causing buildup. In the morning, just brush the LiquidStrip coating and the stains away. After just two nights of using Crest Night Effects, you'll notice a clean, smooth feeling on the surface of your teeth.

How to Use Crest Night Effects

For the best effect, apply Crest Night Effects immediately before going to sleep. Don't forget to review our important tips for maximum benefit.

Do not apply multiple coats of the teeth whitening gel. Reapplication may remove the previous layer.

As you brush it on, you may find that Crest Night Effects does not form a complete or even coating on your teeth. This will not affect the whitening result.

You will know Crest Night Effects is working because you can feel the LiquidStrip coating on your teeth right after you apply until you brush it away in the morning.

You can sip water while wearing Crest Night Effects. We recommend that you do not eat or smoke while Night Effects products are applied to your teeth.

You may find that wiping your teeth with a tissue before brushing in the morning will help prevent the LiquidStrip coating from accumulating on your toothbrush.

Most people find keeping their mouth open for about 30 seconds helps the LiquidStrip coating set.

Good Luck!

I need help regarding my teeth?

okae, so my teeth are really ugly. i have a slightly huge gap in the middle of my buttom teeth, and u guys know like when we close our teeth and put them together the top teeth should be laying on top of the bottom teeth? but mine is the opposite, instead the buttom teeth Lies on top of the top teeth. the gap of my teeth on the buttom is big enough for my tongue to slide through it if i turn my tongue sideways. its really ugly. what should i do??? is braces enough to push that gap together??? or is the gap to big for braces. and i have fangs too! omg! how do i fix these!! PLEASE HELP ME! THANKS!

I need help regarding my teeth?
Braces or Invisalign can help you with your teeth. Go to an orthodontist and get a consultation.
Reply:usually braces can fix stuff like that

but you may need surgery....

YOUR TEETH MUST LOOK LIKE COUNT DRACULA

...you may want to consider talking to him, he went through the same thing as you and that is why he is who he is today.... but he just has fangs...

YOU HAVE A GAP AND FANGS..... I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD TALK TO A DOCTOR AND THEY CAN AMPUTATE YOUR HEAD FOR YOU!
Reply:Visit your dentist. He might be able to put a filling (which is called bonding) on these teeth to close the gap
Reply:Braces should be enough. Just to make sure you should ask an orthodontist.
Reply:I recommend you make an appointment with an orthodontist. The ones in my area offer free consultations. They will be able to answer all your questions for you. Good luck!
Reply:Placing a filling on the lower teeth may close the gap, but it will not fix what is called your 'underbite'. Schedule an appointment with your general dentist for a routine check-up and then ask to be referred to an orthodontist. They specialize in the straightening of teeth and malocclusions...

And don't let the 'mean' responsders get to you~ they just want points for answering...

Good luck!

About My Teeth!! :-(?
I would go see another dentist and get a second opinion. There are other options out there, yes you may have to wait until you are older to put crowns on those teeth. But I would ask about other options.. Good luck
Reply:i suggest you seek alternative dentists
Reply:My grandson who is six years old had to have a crown on one of his teeth. He had damaged the tooth and it couldn't be pulled without causing him problems. It was also a front tooth . If they can crown his tooth, they can do the same for you. Your dentist needs to do the work or send you to someone who will.
Reply:Best option is to get crowns, while a lot of dentists dont like to do this till the patient is older, I think you are old enough. That will be the only true fix if the fillings keep breaking off. Crowns are expensive though (but your parents can check into CareCredit financing). The dentist shouldnt leave you 'high and dry' and not fix the teeth, so I would see another dentist and see what they say. Could be the material they are using too and every office uses different stuff. You have to be very careful with fillings, esp large ones, on the front teeth. No biting into hard things, they will break. Also a good idea to wear a mouthguard if you play sports. Good Luck!!
Reply:Yes, they should be fixed. Crowns work best in your mid 20's - you teeth will keep erupting - getting longer - so crowns done now will look off then. Also the nerves are larger, so it's hard to trim the tooth enough to make it look good.

Something should be done now though - sometimes you have to do the crowns (caps) at your age.

Teeth and body temp.. questions PLZ HELP?

I had some more questions I wanted to ask… thanks to everyone who replied about the nausea.. u guys are great! Ok my question is.. as ive mentioned before my mouth seemed dry lately.. and for the past two mornings when I was brushing my teeth.. It felt really weird.. especially this morning.. u know that feeling like.. someone is scratching a chalkboard with their nails? And that disgusting sound and it makes u just wanna press ur teeth together.. so when I was brushin my teeth.. I had that feeling.. or like imagine ur scraping the chalkboard with ur own teeth.. its hard to explain.. and plus my gums bled a lil today too..

Ok and the 2nd thing is..

On the 8th DPO I had a fever of 100.. that is what my nurse told me.. is that the same thing is checkin it from the basal thermometer? Teeth and body temp.. questions PLZ HELP?
If your talking about being pregnant and those symptoms then yes it's normal. Your hormones are going nuts! I am 31 weeks pregnant, sometimes i feel extremly thirsty for no reason. And my gums bleed everytime i brush. Your teeth get more sensetive during your pregnancy. I get a little bit of blood to when i blow my nose. It's normal... Hormones!

Good Luck!
Reply:I am 10 dpo and yesterday I felt warm as well and my temp is up but only to 98.6 ish. I got warm last month too but this month seem like my breast are warm. So not sure but the temp may be a sign. I have heard that you will go a degree past your normal temp and if you normally run high then 100 wouldn't seem out of the world. I normally run low 97's so 98.6 is high bbt for me. The dry mouth, bad taste, and metallic taste are all signs of pregnancy! I found on the Internet that reports of Biotene Dry Mouth Gum which you can find at the drugstore in the toothpaste section or halls vitamin C drops have been know to help. Good Luck :)

Teeth and body temp.. questions PLZ HELP?
Pregnancy can dry the mouth and cause a funny metallic taste. I had to deal with it for the first few months of my twin pregnancy. Then I had too much saliva and couldn't keep from being nauseated all the time!

When my mouth was dry, I found that lemon-flavored swabs helped tons. You can buy them at the drugstore.
Reply:The mouth taste - could be a sign of pregnancy - I had that all the way through -

You're gonna have to wait to do a pg test - no other way of knowing for sure, honey.

Good luck

Teeth the movie?

WTF? I mean I was watching break.com when i click on da link that said "teeth" and its a little preview of a movie which is about a vagina with "teeth" i laughed my a$$ off ..didnt think it was real till I went to da website "http://teethmovie.com/film.html" so it real huh??

then I did a little research on "toothed vagina"

and its totally diferent from the concept of the movie =/

"Toothed vagina," the classic symbol of men's fear of sex, expressing the unconscious belief that a woman may eat or castrate her partner during intercourse. Frued said, "Probably no male human being is spared the terrifying shock of threatened castration at the sight of female genitals." But he had the reason wrong. The real reason for this "terrifying shock" is a mouth-symbolism, now recognized universally in myth and fantasy: "It is well-known in psychiatry that both males and females fantasize as a mouth the female's entranceway to the vagina."

Teeth the movie?
Actually there is a pre-screening of the film on Thusday in New York City.
Reply:Oh! I am so seeing this movie. lol. Does anyone know when it is coming out in regular movie theatres all over the U.S.? It wasn't until like 2 weeks after Juno officially came out that the movie was in my area. Report It

Teeth tapping/TMJ syndrome?

Could teeth tapping be a contributing factor to TMJ syndrome? For some reason I compulsively tap my teeth together almost all the time. I do also sometimes notice that I'm clenching my teeth really tightly as well, I don't know whether I clench or grind my teeth during the night.

I do have all the symptoms of TMJ syndrome although I haven't been diagnosed with it, but I do plan to ask my dentist about it next time I go. How effective are mouth guards in treating TMJ syndrome? One of my friends says she finds it very uncomfortable and can't sleep with hers in - I'm a really bad sleeper at the best of times, will wearing a mouthguard cause more problems?!

Teeth tapping/TMJ syndrome?
Mouth guards are difficult to sleep in and most people tend to spit them out! Please contact your dentist now instead of waiting and researching on the net as you will only scare yourself with knowledge that might not be rellivant to your case. Your dentist will be able to refer you to your local hospital's oral surgery department for a consultation with a consultant who can advise you and treat you as they see appropriate to your individual needs.
Reply:this is also called "bruxism" do some research on the net on how to help you. i found that meditation to relax me before i go to sleep helps
Reply:If this gets really bad, you should search for a neuromuscular dentist, who can help with the problems in your bite. Good luck.

Teeth Adjustment Problem After Crowning?

I had one of my back molars crowned a week ago. It felt higher than the other teeth, so the dentist filed the surface. It helped slightly.

For the past 7 days, I can sense my other teeth have "moved". The moving has sort of affected my bite and my upper and lower jaw do not seem to meet each other the way they did before crowning. Also, whenever I bite on the side with the crown, I feel like I am biting on a tiny rock. I am really worried and don't dare to bite hard for fear of cracking the tooth under the crown.

What could be the problem with my crown and what can I do to resolve this? Will more filing help? Will it reduce the durability of the crown (btw, it is a gold crown)? Is it advisable for me to wait longer for all the teeth to adjust to the crown before approaching the dentist again?

I'd really appreciate some advice on this. Thanks!

Teeth Adjustment Problem After Crowning?
Under normal circumstances after a crown is inserted your bite should feel normal within 24 hours. It sounds like you still need another bite adjustment. You won't fracture the tooth under the crown because of the bite, but prolonged bite problems can cause that tooth to become increasing sensitive and feel just like a toothache (sensitive to hot and cold). If your dentist feels the bite on that crown is adjusted as far as it can go, he can alleviate the bite on the opposing tooth. (It doesn't take much, minor little microns are all he has to take off)

Can you floss in between the teeth around that crown?? If you can't or if it is very difficult your dentist can also adjust the inter-proximal areas as well. 7 days is way too long, that crown should already feel like just another tooth in your mouth. Good luck! :o)
Reply:You need more adjusting. Dentistry is not always perfect the first or second or third time. Go back until it doesn't bother you anymore. Gold is the most forgiving of the dental materials, but it still needs adjusting sometimes. You will make the tooth super sensitive if you keep biting on it in order to try to "make it feel right". Let the dentist do it.
Reply:The crown could still be to high or I hope your dentist didn't smooth off the top so there are no fissures so the other tooth does not match it. It is fairly normal for your teeth to move when something new is placed in the mouth, they move all the time anyway. You need to have your bite adjusted. Not all dentist know how to do this or will even know what your talking about. Hopefully yours does, if not call until you find one that does. It's an easy fix
Reply:You need to have it adjusted again. Your bite should feel just like it did before you got the crown. If you don't get it adjusted again then the tooth will start to hurt because you are putting all of your pressure on that tooth first.
Reply:It sounds like your other teeth are extruding themselves slightly, your teeth naturally want to meet each other and come in contact during chewing. If your crown is seated too high, your other teeth move to come into contact. Your teeth should not have to adjust to your new crown, call your dentist as soon as possible. Crown placement can be tricky. It could be as simple as the dentist re-seating the crown. Good luck!

Teeth Help!?

So a few years ago I was at a friends house and she was on the tredmill. And she told me to do something on there. And being the idiot I was I got on there and did what she did and when I did I slipped and cracked my front tooth in half. And went to the dentist and they got it fixed. I was really happy. But lately now I have been really self concious about it. It sticks out farther than the rest because its fake. And half of it is discolored. Its awful! They can't make it too thin or it will break so thats why they had to make it thicker than the rest of my teeth. And when I smile and you look from the side it looks terrible! And I've noticed that there is a black spot on the side of the fake tooth. Could it be a cavity? I dunno. How much do you think it will cost to get a new front tooth done?

Teeth Help!?
Hi Hun. I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. The material used to repair the tooth can often discolor after a few years and it will stain if you drink lots of tea or soda. Some foods will so this as well. Since the bonding is NOT perfect, like your natural tooth, some bacteria can get in between the seal and start to decay your tooth. So you must see a dentist is the spot is decay.

Second, instead of going back and forth every 2-3 years for a new bonding, we charge 200.00 for an incisal edge bonding, get a crown done for 800-1000.00. The dentist can match the color and size perfectly and you will never be self conscious again. It is worth the extra to get it done right, and feel good about yourself. Talk to the dentist about a payment plan and try to put at least 300.00 down to cover the majority lab costs and impression materials. I hope this helped you. If you have any other questions, please ask.
Reply:go and ask a dentist
Reply:well, i think u can get it fix since now we have a more talented dentist.i think it will cause u about $450 per tooth in malaysia.
Reply:200 maybe! I am so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so SORRY! That would scare the **** out of me! I'd go there right now and ask about it. It might be painful but i am so sorry. You may need to take it out and get it fixed or ask for a smaller one because it looks weird. And you cannor ever get a cavity on a fake tooth, thats stupid. (sorry) But I hope this helps. I'm no dentist and I have never answered in the dental questions!
Reply:$200-250, it depends on what your Health care options are. Some health care only pays for a certain amount. But if its bothering you that bad, just go see the denist and ask him how much its going to be, you'll never know...unless you ask.

Bushing teeth?

i have a 3 year old girl give me a hard time to brush her teeth i try every thing i had her pick out her our tooth brush and the other day i saw the new tooth brush that plays song i do not know what to do she cry when i getting ready to brush her teeth i eighth make as a game

Bushing teeth?
You're doing everything right. What worked for me is I made a BIG DEAL when I brushed My teeth. I'd say "Yippee! I'm brushing my teeth! This is SO much Fun! Yummy the toothpaste is SOOO good! My Mouth feels Fresh!" Etc.

Three year olds like to do what you do. They like what you like if you make a big enough deal over it.
Reply:That's also how I got my kids potty trained early. I made a BIG DEAL about going to pee. "I'ma BIG GIRL!" I don't wear diapers!

They like.....what YOU like. It always works. Report It

Reply:Try a new flavor every night.
Reply:That can be a really hard thing to get kids to do. A few things to try:

Point system, she brushes her teeth gets so many points, or stickers or something, then she gets a prize she can pick out at a toy store or that you already have

OR

Try a shock kind of thing, show her pic. of rotting teeth and telling her about it. It might get her to do it. I know i didn't brush my teeth for a long time, and then my Dr. showed me pic. now i have to brush or I feel so dirty.

Hope this helps
Reply:Well, reward her perhaps give her 50 cents each time she brushes her teeth, and at one point she may realize that she needs to brush, so her breath doesnt stink, or cause diseases, or maybe take her to a dentist or make her watch a cartoon explaingin the importance of brushing your teeth
Reply:brib her or let her do it try getting hotwateron it or bubblegum toothpaste and say ill give u a chocolate if u let me brish ur teeth!
Reply:Sometimes when you want little kids to do something, it's more fun to do things as a group or make things a competition. If you show her that other kids are doing those things and some of them are even doing better than her, then she'll want to do it well too. Don't purposely say she's bad at it because that destroys a child's confidence. Why don't you try brushing your teeth with her or compete to see who can brush it better or faster, etc. Give rewards and stuff.
Reply:I would brush my teeth with my daughter showing her how much fun it was. I would sing songs about it whatever I could to show her it was fun. Now she is 2 and everytime I say lets brush she runs to the bathroom! Keep doing what you are doing and she will come around. Good luck
Reply:my 3 year old used to hate brushing his teeth and then he got over it and likes it. i bought him thomas tooth paste and a fun dolphin tooth brush that vibrates from costco. he likes to try to put the paste on himself. my 2 year old hates it and cries, and i feel like the more he screams and cries the better b/c his mouth opens wider for me to get in there and do it myself.

do it for her and if she complains, know that it will pass!

my oldest son seemed to get over it when a buddy of his put some fake rotting teeth in his mouth and he saw them and i told him if he didn't brush his teeth his would look like that. now every time he brushes, he says - i don't want my teeth to look like mason's teeth! and brushes them. its pretty funny.
Reply:she may have some cavities that hurts when she brushes. or she just doesn't like it. check it out with your dentist, as cavities are very common in young children.

Crooked teeth :o( :o(?

I am 15. I hate my teeth, because they are really crooket.

I wonder if anyone know how I can make my self feel satisfied with my crooket teeth. I smile all the time, and a lot of people have asked me, if I ain't going to get braces, because my teeth are so crooket, and they say that my teeth aren't pretty. I get really sad, when people comment my teeth like that. What can I do to feel better? should i stop smiling?

Crooked teeth :o( :o(?
i have crooked teeth too. i'm 41 and still get lots of rude comments. other people's opinions don't really matter. if they don't like your smile they don't have to look at it. just keep your teeth healthy and definitely keep smiling :)
Reply:It doesn't matter what other people think, but braces are good solutions for this, but you don't have to get it if u dont want to. Im gonna get braces this summer cuz i have really cramped teeth. Anyway, if you take opinons really seriously (which you shouldn't) get braces, if not, just leave it and ignore the critizims you get. =D?
Reply:No, NEVER stop smiling, it's what disperses happiness into the world. I think your crooked teeth give you personality. Be proud, don't care about what they say about you!, you just keep smiling, girl!.
Reply:Hi, I am 25 and I have less than perfect teeth when it comes to crooked teeth. I am a very beautiful person and never had a problem with guys, but alot of people think that I am mad alot of the time or stuffy because I rarely smile at people. That is something that I want to change in myself so remember to keep smiling anyhow because we are our own worst critics. A smiling person is an approachable person. You do not want people to think you are a stuffy angry person. I have learned to live with mine. I will eventually try to straighten them and if not oh well I am just fine and you will be too. Good Luck

Whitening teeth?

i'm 13 years old and i just got my braces off. im going to need them again in about a year. (long story) When i had my braces my teeth got kinda yellowish, how do i make them whiter without getting them done at a dentist, Do you use a teeth whitening product? does it work for you? what do you recomend? also after i got my braces off i have this little white spot of my tooth from the brace on my tooth. did you get that if you had braces. how do you get rid of it? thanks! :D

also do you use or know of a toothpaste that actually whitens your teeth?

Whitening teeth?
that rembrandt tootpaste works nicely, and i use the crest tooth whitening stuff,

you paint it on 2x a day, its really cool.
Reply:colgate stuff. Good Luck!
Reply:I heard Crest whitening strips work great
Reply:The best way to whiten is the new tray things on teevee. Also, use Aim toothpaste. Or ask your dentist for a whitening appointment.
Reply:Crest whitening strips work but they're really pricey, Crest whitening rinse also works but results take a while. And none of those whitening toothpastes work cause I tried them all.
Reply:There are many methods, but since you are getting your braces on in a year, try Crest Whitestrips. Also, they have toothpaste and whitening rinse. Colgate has some toothpaste too. Search around, they shouldn't be too expensive. Results vary by person.
Reply:I would say to use Crest whitening strips and Colgate with Baking soda. Colgate is a little foamy but it does make your teeth white.
