Puppy teeth and size of dog?
I have two dogs, one is about 10 months (Charlie)had I saved a few of his puppy teeth while he was teething. We just got another puppy (Lilly), who still has her puppy teeth she is about 3 months. I was comparing Lilly’s teeth to Charlie’s old teeth and I noticed her teeth were smaller then his. Dose this mean she will be smaller then him once she is full grown. They are both Mutts, so we have no projected size to assume. Is there a correlation between puppy teeth and the size of the dog? Just wondering! Thanks

My brother (14) and I (21) both have one high canine tooth, but you can%26#039;t tell when we smile because our upper lip covers the high tooth. But our parents%26#039; teeth are straight.
Then my husband and his sibs (except for one) have crooked teeth, like where the 2 front teeth are more to the front, but their parents%26#039; don%26#039;t.
THEN there are people like my friend who just have perfect straight teeth, as well as their family.
Why is that?! I%26#039;m such a dork, but like I said I%26#039;m curious. Is it genetic somewhere along the line or something?! Thx :D

What is kinda funny to do and if you have a lotta time on your hands is go thru old photo albums and just look out for the dominant genes running thru your families like hair colour, teeth, noses eyes etc. Perfect for those boring rainy days!!

Permenant teeth coming in before baby teeth fall out???
My Daughter is almost 6 years old. She told me last night that she has a big tooth growing in behind her little teeth. I looked in her mouth and she has a permenant tooth growing in behind her baby tooth. The baby tooth is a bit loose. Has this happened to anyone else???? Just curious to hear stories from others. She has a regular exam with her dentist next month.

Loose teeth removal need to remove its root also or not?
I have a loose teeth dentist said it cant be fixed and need to be removed she said position is such that she will first going to remove teeth and than its root I feel its not good to remove root (there is no infection in tooth reason of looseness is something other) so what’s your opinion it is better to remove root or not and second question what is better, teeth fall naturally during eating process or pull out by dentist here too I feel it need to fall naturally because dentist said I have to take antibiotic for teeth pull out which I find unnecessary anyway teeth going fall someday so why need to take antibiotic.

My teeth don't meet at all?
My teeth are extremely difficult, because when I close my mouth they don%26#039;t meet. Like there%26#039;s a centimeter difference. My dentist says I should get braces to fix it up, but that would involve surgery twice, possibably 3 times, and getting 2 teeth pulled. She also says it%26#039;s not guarenteed to work, because I%26#039;m missing 2 teeth. One is already pulled, but another one never grew in and never will. I have to get that one surgically removed. Also, my lower jaw sticks out more than my top. The braces will try to make it appear that my lower teeth is where it%26#039;s supposed to be, but in reality they will be slanted, which seems to me is absolutely horrible. Also, since my teeth don%26#039;t meet, I have to chew twice as more as normal people do. This will likely cause more complications when I%26#039;m older, because my jaw muscels will tire more, and get sore often. I don%26#039;t know what to do at all. If only I could get braces without having any surgery or pulling teeth I would! Any advice?

My daughter had the very exact situation you have. She is absolutely gorgeous now! Her back teeth did not touch to eat. Her lower jaw was more forward than her upper.
She had braces, surgery to remove her lower canines because they were totally on their side and her wisdom teeth that she actually had double of on all four sides, after the orthodontist got her teeth perfectly aligned (they tried the slanting thing--didn%26#039;t work and didn%26#039;t look good) braces couldn%26#039;t fix for her the fact that her teeth didn%26#039;t touch.
She had orthognathic jaw surgery. They removed her upper jaw, widened it, lowered it and pinned it back in place with titanium pins. She was told her jaw would go temporarily numb and that this would help with any pain and it did. She says she was in very little pain and it showed as she rarely asked for pain meds. The biggest issue for her was the fact that they had to cut through her sinus cavities making her nose feel like it was stuffed up and she was not permitted to blow her nose for 6 weeks because it would have went into her face through the cuts. She wore a splint on her teeth for 6 weeks. Six months later her braces were off and her smile model perfect.
Write me if you want to see her before and after photo%26#039;s. She is so happy with the results she said she would do it again in a heart beat as it was very worth it.

Can you sell teeth?
I recently had a little oral surgery to remove some impacted wisdom teeth and fix a jaw problem. After the surgery, my oral surgeon plunked down two of my teeth in front of me. I got to talking later that day about the teeth to my boyfriend who mentioned that they were ivory. Something I guess I knew but had always associated with elephants. The conversation went on and I started thinking about weather or not I could sell these teeth. I have no need for a couple of teeth, and they are in good condition. perhaps they could be sold to a company that makes false teeth, or to someone who works with ivory. Does anyone know if you can sell your teeth? Who would buy teeth? How would you go about doing it? I know it is a wierd question, but all answers are appreciated!

In "perfect" teeth, are your front teeth on the top supposed to touch your front bottom teeth?
I%26#039;ve had braces, and never forget to wear my retainer. But my dentist said something like: %26quot;Oh, you%26#039;ve had braces? I thought you were in the middle of having them. You have a slight over bite. Your top front teeth don%26#039;t touch your front bottom.%26quot; But if they did this, you%26#039;d be like a nutcracker, wouldn%26#039;t you? He made me worried, because my orthodontist said I had perfect teeth not too long ago. Did they move or something? I don%26#039;t remember my front top teeth ever directly hitting my bottom front teeth. My canines and back teeth touch, however.

Well i also had braces and now mine currently touch. The teeth only slighty hit the bottom teeth. Hehe and no you wouldn%26#039;t be a nitcraker having your teeth like that, they%26#039;re not right one top of each other.
And i know that not wearing your retainer shifts your teeth to the way they were before. If you want to get it straightened back out you could always get braces again. Although they%26#039;re expensive. Good luck and hope it all works out.
One last thing you can have a beautiful smile even if your teeth aren%26#039;t perfect.

Well i also had braces and now mine currently touch. The teeth only slighty hit the bottom teeth. Hehe and no you wouldn%26#039;t be a nitcraker having your teeth like that, they%26#039;re not right one top of each other.
And i know that not wearing your retainer shifts your teeth to the way they were before. If you want to get it straightened back out you could always get braces again. Although they%26#039;re expensive. Good luck and hope it all works out.
One last thing you can have a beautiful smile even if your teeth aren%26#039;t perfect.

I%26#039;m an 18 year old who is EXTREMELY terrified of going to the doctor and the dentist and everything like that. ESPECIALLY needles.
Anyway, I have four wisdom teeth coming out sometime soon, and I%26#039;m very afraid. My dentist will not give me sleeping gas, which is a problem, because I don%26#039;t think anyone would like to lay down for hours watching their teeth being pulled out and their gums being sewn up.
(Is it true that they stick and IV in you?.. ew..)
I was thinking about just letting them grow in, but i have absolutely NO MORE ROOM in my mouth for extra teeth. My teeth aren%26#039;t very straight right now, so they%26#039;d be even worse.
(That reminds me.. does anyone know if I%26#039;d be able to get braces if I didn%26#039;t get my wisdom teeth pulled?)
I just want to know about everyone%26#039;s experiences when they got their wisdom teeth pulled out, and what you think I should do.

Wisdom Teeth?
It was no sweat. They pulled two of mine and had two surgically removed and it didn%26#039;t even take all that long, nor did it hurt. I had one day of pretty bad pain after I had my remaining two cut out and my gums stitched up, but they gave me some pretty good medicine so I was conked out for most of the time the day after. For a couple of days all i coule eat was really soft stuff like sliced hot dogs , cocolate pudding and jello because my gums were tender. That was probably worse than anything and I am not a huge fan of soft foods. My gums didn%26#039;t even hurt after I got my first two pulled, it just was aggravating trying to eat and because I sneezed and busted open my blood clot on the way home and had to go back and have them stop the bleeding again.
Reply:they put me out like a light, i dont remember if there was an iv or not, maybe thats how they put you out instead of gas. but i was out and when i woke up i felt fine, about three hours later i felt like i had been run over by a bus but that only lasted for 3 days, no more sore gums or infections in the back of my jaws, it was great.

By the third day I was feeling pretty good and very well rested.

They sat me down and started putting on all of the meonitoring equiptment, and by the time they put the last monitoring device on, i figured it was the IV and started feeling sick, so I had them get a trashcan and threw up....nothing...because obviously your not supposed to eat or drink before it. The dentist and his assistants we%26#039;re VERY informative and VERY caring. After that, they got a wet towel, dampened my face a bit and turned on a fan. I then got color back in my face lol, as I said, I%26#039;m horrible with needles. So then the fun part happened, the laughing gas, I remember thinking to myself as i had it on my face, %26quot;Am I actually getting effected by this or is this more of a mental thing%26quot; Then about two seconds later (1 hour real time) I wake up in a chair with a blanket on top of me. Now the surgery was NOTHING, the afterwards is whats bothering. I have a lump on my lower left cheek, I guess is from where they removed part of the bone, it fills in to protect it or something and should be gone in about 2-3 weeks, no worries on that. Another thing that%26#039;s bothering is the fact I can%26#039;t even sleep well cause of the pain and inflamation of my mouth. BUT, this will be well-worth the time and pain because this actually hurts less than what my wisdom teeth felt like before. I remember waking up at 4 A.M. just in agony of my wisdom teeth pushing my other teeth together. Well, since I can%26#039;t sleep right now, I figure I%26#039;ll just go post some more telling people the surgery is nothing, but the afterwards effect is what is bothersome. Question about teeth-bleaching?
I%26#039;m 15 years old, and when I had braces, I didn%26#039;t brush that much when i had them on, and now they are off and have been for a while, and my teeth are kinda brownish with white blotches on it, the dentist said the white blotches were from braces, and I wanted to get my teeth bleached and she said it would do nothing to the brownish areas and it would only whiten the little white blothes on my teeth.
Is this true, if I bleached my teeth, it would only whiten the little white blotches on my teeth from braces and not the brownish areas which covers most of my teeth?
How old do you have to be to get your teeth bleached at the dentist? She said she couldn%26#039;t do it for me because I was under 18 years old.

Then, ask for a take-home bleach kit. Impressions are made of your teeth and clear plastic trays are formed that fit exactly. Two or three tubes of bleaching gel are usually included and you put a fine line of the gel in the trays and wear them for several hours each day (usually at night.) The color of your teeth should even out in a few weeks, especially since you are so young.
I%26#039;ve never heard of denying bleach to a paitent your age. In fact, many orthodontists I know give it away for free as a prize for completing your treatment.
Did you ask your orthodontist, or your general dentist? Get a second opinion!! You%26#039;ve done all that hard work wearing braces, you deserve to have the smile you want!!

Dental Professionals - Breaking Teeth, Loose Teeth, sore gums, sensitivity?
Lets just say a few months prior to meeting my wife 4 years ago, I led a less than desirable drug/alcohol laced life for many years. I%26#039;m now 30 and I have been 100% clean since then. I never ever took care of my teeth. I think I was 16 the last time I went to a dentist except to have my bottom wisdom teeth pulled when I was 22, because of the great fear I have of the dentist (nothing against you guys.)

No dentist should ever %26quot;judge%26quot; you in a moral sense--but it would be good for the dentist to know your drug problems are behind you, since they can be directly and indirectly responsible for the dental problems. I%26#039;d be very hesitant to do extensive restorative treatment (for example) on a patient on drugs and/or alcohol, who I would expect to be less than compliant.
OTOH, I would bend over backwards for someone in need that I was convinced was serious about improving their oral health.

Front teeth?
one of my front teeth is bigger then the other they are straight and all but my left front tooth is a tad wider andlines up with the tooth beside it also lines up with the other front tooth but the other front tooth (right) is no lined up with the tooth beside it comes down more....Is there anything wrong with that?

Problems with baby teeth, with no adults?
I%26#039;m not familiar with all the techinical terms/names for teeth, so bare with me.
My very first molar on my left side is loose. It%26#039;s a baby tooth, there%26#039;s no adult for it. Whenever I floss my teeth or eat something really hard and crunchy (granola bars) it feels looser and hurts a little. I%26#039;m 21, and it%26#039;s been going on for some time now, slowly getting looser. I%26#039;m just wondering... when it does fall out, what are some options I have that aren%26#039;t expensive (anything under 500$) to replace the lost tooth?
I also have one on my right side...the small tooth next to my two front teeth fell out when I was 12, but there was no adult for it, so when my canine fell out and the adult came in, it took the place of the small tooth, so now there%26#039;s a space between my canine and my first molar, on the right side. The space is a bit smaller, 1/8%26quot; wide, so I don%26#039;t know if they can put a tooth in. What would be my options for that space?
Problems with baby teeth, with no adults?
If you have a 2nd molar (the tooth behind the loose baby tooth), it is possible to do a bridge there to replace the eventually missing tooth. It%26#039;s like a crown (cap), but you have 2 caps with a connected fake tooth in the center. It%26#039;s permanently cemented into place and you dont take it out. The 2nd option would be an implant, which is probably also your BEST option, but they are pricey. So is the bridge. A 3rd option is braces to close *all* gaps. But unfortunately, there is no treatment option under $500. The best thing is to go in for a consult with your dentist. He can refer you to an orthodontist or a surgeon if you decide to do braces or implants. Good luck!

My very first molar on my left side is loose. It%26#039;s a baby tooth, there%26#039;s no adult for it. Whenever I floss my teeth or eat something really hard and crunchy (granola bars) it feels looser and hurts a little. I%26#039;m 21, and it%26#039;s been going on for some time now, slowly getting looser. I%26#039;m just wondering... when it does fall out, what are some options I have that aren%26#039;t expensive (anything under 500$) to replace the lost tooth?
I also have one on my right side...the small tooth next to my two front teeth fell out when I was 12, but there was no adult for it, so when my canine fell out and the adult came in, it took the place of the small tooth, so now there%26#039;s a space between my canine and my first molar, on the right side. The space is a bit smaller, 1/8%26quot; wide, so I don%26#039;t know if they can put a tooth in. What would be my options for that space?

If you have a 2nd molar (the tooth behind the loose baby tooth), it is possible to do a bridge there to replace the eventually missing tooth. It%26#039;s like a crown (cap), but you have 2 caps with a connected fake tooth in the center. It%26#039;s permanently cemented into place and you dont take it out. The 2nd option would be an implant, which is probably also your BEST option, but they are pricey. So is the bridge. A 3rd option is braces to close *all* gaps. But unfortunately, there is no treatment option under $500. The best thing is to go in for a consult with your dentist. He can refer you to an orthodontist or a surgeon if you decide to do braces or implants. Good luck!

Wisdom Teeth and Retainers...?
I%26#039;ve had my braces off for a little over 4 years now and I STILL wear my retainers when I sleep. Well, It seems my wisdom teeth are growing in...and now my bottom teeth are in alot of pain! I put the retainers in during the day sometimes because they ease the pain(and the pressure)that I feel on my front two bottom teeth. They are tight at first, but after 30 min or so, they are loose and fit like the day I got them.
My question is, it%26#039;ll be atleast 6 months before I can afford to get my wisdom teeth out...What%26#039;s going to happen to my teeth? Will they move if I continue to wear my retainers? What about AFTER I get the wisdom teeth out? Will they spread way apart?
I%26#039;m really worried. :(

Sometimes my retainers are so tight because my teeth have shifted, that I can%26#039;t get to sleep wearing them, so I%26#039;ll wear them around the house when I%26#039;m on the treadmil or reading or cleaning. Just wear them enough that they don%26#039;t shift, I know it hurts. Hope you feel better!

Wisdom Teeth?
I am a 21 year old female who has been putting off getting her wisdom teeth taken out for several years now. I do not have the money to spend on it right now and am already traumatized from a broken jaw a few years ago. All the dental work that was involved in that (I shattered some teeth too) was a little too much to handle.
I recently noticed what I believe to be one of my wisdom teeth poking through the skin of my gums. It almost feels like my cheek is cut right where the tooth is sticking out. Is this a sign I need to have the wisdom removed immediately or will I be able to make it into the new year with things as they are? I feel some pain when I apply pressure to the teeth in that area but it is nothing major.
Also, when I do have the wisdom teeth removed, will they be able to knock me out so I don%26#039;t even have to deal with the novocaine? (To me, novocaine is the worst part of everything - I dread it) How long will I be uncomfortable? Will I need to take time off work?

THe good news is that there is nothing pressing right at this moment. Yes that is your wisdom tooth coming in, it is trying to erupt. You have no infections that is seems to go with it. You can put it off a bit longer, but keep in my that is is much easier to have them taken out while you are younger. If you have no dental insurance, but are covered by medical insurance, your medical ins may cover the cost of your extractions as long as they are under the gum and impacted in the bone. SO this might be something to look into, before they erupt some more.
The procedure itself is simple. Yes they can put you under to go to sleep for the procedure.
I would plan on 3 days of down time. THe first day that you have it done, you will feel groggy and numb, 2nd day you will feel yuck mouth and hear is where the pain will come into play, but you will have pain meds to help and there 3rd day you will start to come around. You will have to eat soft foods in the beginning.
FOr the most part within a week people usually are back to themselves.

Toddler teeth keep breaking, what can I do?
I noticed my two year old son had a small chip on a top front side tooth a few weeks ago, a couple of weeks ago I spotted that the first big tooth at the bottom had broken and was discoloured on the side and this morning he was sitting at the end of my bed when he suddenly said %26#039;Ouch%26#039; and said he%26#039;d bumped his mouth, when I looked he has a very small black line going up his front top tooth.
Obviously I will make a dentisit appointment for him on Monday but wondered what treatment there is.
I%26#039;m thinking that he must have really weak teeth as my daughter has no problems with her. He was breastfed (so no bottles to blame), doesn%26#039;t really have sweets but has fruit and sometimes a biscuit and drinks mostly water with some diluted juice. I%26#039;ve also been brushing since before he had any teeth. No fizzy drinks, boiled sweets etc.
Will calcium supplements help? Or is there something they can paint on the teeth? I am really worried for him and don%26#039;t understand why this is happening.

For a while, I didn%26#039;t take the greatest care of my teeth so I was worried that when I went to the dentist a month ago, that he was going to find something seriously wrong with my teeth. I had a couple cavities, which he repaired, and he said that my gums were kinda inflamed, but that they would go back to normal if I continue to brush and floss everyday. Sometimes when I bite down and push one of my teeth with my tongue, the tooth feels like it moves slightly, but it doesn%26#039;t move anymore so I guess thats good. However, I am an extremely paranoid person and whenever I think that something may be wrong with me, I start to imagine that I have symptons and I constantly worry. I had my teeth cleaned, the dentist then examined my teeth, he also saw my teeth when I had to go back for the fillings, and he took x-rays, so if I had something like periodontal disease he would notice right? Unfortunetely I worry about everything and I keep thinking my teeth will fall out. Should I stop worrying?

Reply:i had the same dream (almost exactly) and every morning i would wake up with intense jaw pain. for me, i knew i was clenching my teeth, but i couldn%26#039;t figure out why - i wasn%26#039;t stressed or anything. as it turns out, i wasn%26#039;t eating close enough to bedtime. i would go to bed hungry and in my sleep i would clench and grind my teeth (sort of an unconscious chewing). i don%26#039;t know if the clenching caused my jaw to hurt, which in turn caused the dreams or if i would dream about my teeth falling out and clench in response.

As far as your dream goes.It may be that you could be using strong bristles from you brush and it could be pulling your gums back more and more.Your body might be telling you something.Using a softer bristle might help.

You lose a bunch of them when you%26#039;re a kid and then you ask your parents if you%26#039;ll lose the new ones. They say no, you won%26#039;t. But then you see some people who have in fact lost their adult teeth. This is a permanent thing, and so losing adult teeth becomes a deep-seated fear because 1) you know what losing teeth feels like, 2) adult teeth wouldn%26#039;t grow back and 3) toothless people are typically seen as unattractive. Dreams can tend to reify our deep-seated fears from time to time.

how do i get healthy teeth, i brush my teeth, i use whit strips every once in a while, but i have like these (lighter than my teeth color) blotches on my teeth. i dont smoke, drink, chew or anything i rinse with ACT mouth wash sommetimes not a lot but like 2 or 3 times a month. :] but i want healthy teeth not just white, but i also want white teeth.

Bad teeth at 20....?
Hey.I am 20 years old and my teeth have become so bad that I think I might need some of them taken out, certainly the top one%26#039;s anyway. I have natrually very weak teeth but it is mainly due to past drug use that my teeth are so bad. My problem is that I am really embarassed about how bad my teeth are at such a young age so I am terrified of going to the dentist to get them fixed. I am able to get free dental treatment on the UK%26#039;s NHS but I am only able to get dentures, I would need to pay to get implants (which i can%26#039;t afford at the moment).
So I guess I%26#039;m just looking for you guys to put my mind at ease, I have an appointment in two days. Dentures is not ideal at such a young age but I know that its way better than having ugly teeth - but I am still really nervous about going.
Also, is it possible to get dentures for say 1-2 years and then get implants at a later date when I can afford them? because I know that no teeth damages the bone which may prevent implants at later date

Here%26#039;s the deal. If your dentist is advising dentures, particularly for the upper teeth, do that. I guarantee that you will feel 100% (at least) better about their appearance. You will have to adjust to not having teeth, and I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll do fine. One of the biggest things about an upper denture is that it covers your palate, altering how you taste food.
Given your age (20) and the fact that you probably have lots of bone, I strongly encourage you to get implants as soon as you can. Over time you will loose much of the bone that usually supports the teeth, so sooner is definitely better. FYI: you don%26#039;t have to get 8-10 implants, either. Getting 4 on the top will greatly improve your quality of life with a denture as it will allow you to have a denture that has an open palate and just less plastic in your mouth in general.
Try to be really honest with your dentist about your fears, concerns, etc as the only way he can address them is if he knows about them. Again, I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll do superbly.

Reply:You should be able to get implants later on but its a lot of pain. One of our friends got them and they spilit open the gum to put this titatiam curved piece in and then you have to wait until that all heals and attaches with your jaw.

Her mother had all her teeth knocked out (and those of her 3 younger sisters) to prevent a reoccurance of the disease. I wouldn%26#039;t worry to much, I never realised my Mum had false teeth %26#039;till I was about 15 and found her brushing her teeth (holding them in her hands over the bathroom sink). It never freaked me out, and as I am now in a similar situation to you, I have been contemplating them. I see no down side really, the glue is good enough that you can eat steak normally, my only problem is that I don%26#039;t think I qualify to get them for free, and I can%26#039;t afford to pay for them (where I am they can be over $1000 after public health helps...) BTW, I have only lost two back teeth so far, but due to poor dental hygiene, I know it%26#039;s only a matter of time...

A few weeks ago I struggled with asking my boss for training because I was thinking about the expense involved. People here suggested that I go ahead and ask. I asked and guess what, I got a week off + all cost paid to another city for the training I need.
My advice to you is go visit at least two dentists, get their opinions and advice and see whom you are more comfortable with.
My guess it that they would handle the situation very delicately and would put you at ease. They see this stuff all the time and their job is not to embarass you but to help you.
Bottom line: get your teeth, life and family in order. You are young and have a whole life in front of you.

However in lots of cases dentist are able to rebuild your teeth (the crowns of the teeth, using the remaining roots) if the roots are still in good condition. In that case you WILL NOT need implants. If it is possible to rebuild at least some of your teeth, a remaining gap can be %26quot;bridged%26quot; by false teeth, using the re-built teeth as holding pillars.
It%26#039;s a good thing that you decided to take care of your teeth and stay off of drugs! Don%26#039;t be embarrassed! I have worked in the dental field for more then 8 yrs. I have seen so many bad teeth it doesn%26#039;t bother me. We are there to help you. The only thing that would make me frown is if you didn%26#039;t go to the dentist.
Don%26#039;t worry based on your initial exam, the dentist will come up with a treatment plan to get you started on your way to healthy teeth! Good luck!

Reply:yes of course wearing dentures harms the bone of your jaws gradually but it takes a long time...the best choice for you is Implant but if you dont afford that you can wear dentures dont be worry about the harms to your bone....and as i know in young ppl this bone i mean residual ridge of mandible and maxilla can tolerate more pressure...

About teeth and sleep...?
While I%26#039;m sleeping, I apparently do this thing with my teeth where my mouth is closed, but my teeth are clattering, almost as if I am constantly biting down on something. It%26#039;s not necessarily grinding, it%26#039;s just my teeth hitting each other over and over. I don%26#039;t wake myself up when I do it, and didn%26#039;t know until my boyfriend told me I do it in my sleep. He says I do it all night sometimes... Also some days I will wake up and my teeth will feel sort of odd. Like I had been clenching them together for a long time. Not quite loose... but the front teeth will be touching each other in a way that feels unusual, not the same as it used to be. It%26#039;s very strange... No pain involved or anything, but it still bothers me and I%26#039;m sure it%26#039;s not the best for my teeth.
Anyone have any advice as to where I go from here, what to do about it, or possible similar personal stories? Any help would be much appreciated.

You are probably grinding your teeth in your sleep. You can either go and buy a mouth guard at a sporting goods store (such as Dick%26#039;s) or go to your dentist and have a mouth guard fit personally to your teeth (for the most benefit, but higher cost). This is what is recommended for the patients we see that have problems like yours.
Reply:Get yourself a mouth guard which will keep you from doing the bite down grinding thing all night long. You can also brush with Sensodyne toothpaste when your teeth have that %26quot;strange%26quot; feeling and it will go away almost immediately.
Reply:Go to the doctor or the dentist and get a bite guard. People wear them at night to protect their teeth. I clench my teeth when I%26#039;m awake. I had no idea I was doing it until my dentist told me that she could see the wear marks on my teeth. She recommended if I didn%26#039;t work on being aware of it and relaxing my jaw that I should get a bite guard.

You may be suffering from a simple mineral deficiency of potassium which is very hard to get through foods. Potassium defeciency in the body causes muscles to jerk and fire off. If you are also feeling %26quot;twitches%26quot;in your arms, legs, neck, feet, or anywhere else in your body on a regular basis you may be short of the mineral potassium. The twitches and jerks happen most of the time, but you are more aware of them when lying still in bed. Potassium is a nescessary mineral the body uses for smooth muscle responses. Your jaw is heavy with muscles and these muscles may be clenching, and chattering because of a potassium deficiency. Potassium pills can be bought at any over the counter drug store, but they do not add much, only 3% per day of what you need. Bananas, and particularly V8 vegetable juice are rich in natural potassium. V8 will yeild 34% of the daily potassium you need in a large size serving. Drink one each day, and eat bananas and rasins. It will take about 2 weeks till you see the clenching subside because the body absorbs potassium slowly and it needs to be ingested daily. I believe this may in fact solve your problem. It solved mine completely. During sleep my teeth clashed so often and so hard that I sometimes woke up with the insides of my cheeks being bit and bleeding. Potassium stopped it cold afte 2 weeks of high potassium intake. Do not ingest more than your daily 100% however. Good luck.

My teeth are bad and i dont know what can be done?
When i was young, i had a dentist that told me stuff when i went, then when i went back, he didnt do anything. IE. Give me a telling off for having decayed and squint teeth... saying %26quot;when this one comes out we will get u braces%26quot; then when it did come out he couldnt be bothered basically.
I grew up from the age of 9 to 25 only seeing a dentist if my life depends on it. (pain). I have had 2 teeth extracted (the molar beside each top canine) and without noticing it, i dont smile. I come accross as no sense of humour coz i dont like it... never have.
Thats just me now. Second nature.
I dont see the point in dentures, they seem massive effort and the reason i have bad teeth to begin with is coz im lazy. I dont wanna be adjustin my teeth all the time looking like mrs doubtfire.
The tooth to the right of the one that is extracted has now split but during the last extracted 8 years ago and this new problem, i had a decayed tooth....

I have to go to my dentist on the 30th. I have been %26#039;dreading%26#039; this for about the last 3mths. It is a check up. We have to have them in the UK every six months. I only recently found out about this when I had to find another dentist because my other one had %26#039;archived my folder%26#039; because I hadnt seen him since 1996 or something ridiculous like that. I hadnt realised that you have to go there, make an appointment every 6mths, take up his time and an appointment that someone who needed him could have had, and you have to go in the surgery, thumbs up, and say %26#039;Alright mate, how ya doin..jus thought Id pop in and waste half an hour of your valuable time..what? no theres nothing wrong, I just wanted you to see me...%26#039; For pity%26#039;s sake, if I did that to my doctor he%26#039;d lob me off his list ... what goes on!!!!
As a youngster I had a very bad experience at the dentist which I never ever got over.
I have a tooth at the top that is at its gum level like you have, but they %26#039;crowned%26#039; it for me, and now its no problem at all. Admittedly that was after a dentist, who has since left the old surgery, had filled it over an absess and I ended up having root treatment...
I have problems with one at the moment. Its a wisdom tooth, its not long ago come through, (Im not at the usual age for wisdom teeth, Im a lot older {maybe Im thick and thats why they didnt come out til now lol}) Anyway, the dentist gave me an injection which didnt work, dug around and took most of my gum away, filled it on the gum not the tooth, now it snapped the filling and the tooth, its very sharp and is embedding itself into my face and cheek. I grew up from the age of 9 to 25 only seeing a dentist if my life depends on it. (pain). I have had 2 teeth extracted (the molar beside each top canine) and without noticing it, i dont smile. I come accross as no sense of humour coz i dont like it... never have.

I dont see the point in dentures, they seem massive effort and the reason i have bad teeth to begin with is coz im lazy. I dont wanna be adjustin my teeth all the time looking like mrs doubtfire.

I have to go to my dentist on the 30th. I have been %26#039;dreading%26#039; this for about the last 3mths. It is a check up. We have to have them in the UK every six months. I only recently found out about this when I had to find another dentist because my other one had %26#039;archived my folder%26#039; because I hadnt seen him since 1996 or something ridiculous like that. As a youngster I had a very bad experience at the dentist which I never ever got over.
I have a tooth at the top that is at its gum level like you have, but they %26#039;crowned%26#039; it for me, and now its no problem at all. Admittedly that was after a dentist, who has since left the old surgery, had filled it over an absess and I ended up having root treatment...
I have problems with one at the moment. Its a wisdom tooth, its not long ago come through, (Im not at the usual age for wisdom teeth, Im a lot older {maybe Im thick and thats why they didnt come out til now lol}) Anyway, the dentist gave me an injection which didnt work, dug around and took most of my gum away, filled it on the gum not the tooth, now it snapped the filling and the tooth, its very sharp and is embedding itself into my face and cheek. Will my teeth fall out if i carry on drinking fizzy drinks??
I have some enamel erosion on my front teeth from drinking too many acidy drinks. I can see the tooth getting thinner where the drinks hit the tooth and have recently been feeling aching and sensitivity in the tooth. I brush only once a day and don%26#039;t tend to floss. I know I should brush more and floss but what i want to know is.... if the enamel on my teeth continues to thin/rot, will my teeth eventually fall out????? I also get bleeding gums....will this cause my teeth to fall out?? thanks

My bottom wisdom teeth are growing in. Not alot of pain but here I am with orojel. what to do?
Okay.... My wisdom teeth have been coming in for the last year or so. I look in my mouth and see both of my bottom wisdom teeth coming in. on the bottom left side is my tooth and a partial flap. From what I can see, my wisdom teeth have enough space to grow in. But... I woke up this morning not in excruciating pain, but definite discomfort. I had this same discomfort this time last year for a week or two. Is this just simply my teeth just growing in. Will the tooth grow into the flap? My teeth are growing in straight from what I can see, but here I am. I picked up some Orojel max, and it is working pretty well. I know I should see a dentist, but I am broke. Im 21, and a student. Well this is kind of weird but I was born and never have had enamal on my teeth and they rot easy I have had almost every tooth capped filled or something to that effect and i%26#039;m only 20. I recently moved to texas and my job does not offer dental insurance i only make 5.50 an hour and cant afford to just go now ive got a tooth that is broke to the point you can see the root and is very painful and another tooth that doing the same and my front tooth has broke. Then to top it off now the area around the broken teeth is swollen and my entire face is swollen and it is extremely painful to the point of tears to eat smile or even talk. Any one have a clue where to go to get free or cheep dental work or a place to get insurance that is really cheep or for extremely low income? and what is causing the swelling so bad?

Losing Baby Teeth?
My son%26#039;s bottom teeth are growing in uneven and they are making his back teeth push together and now my son keeps thinking he has something stuck in his teeth and now he is saying sometimes that his teeth hurt.

Now, at 10, in the past month, he has lost 7 teeth! If you are concerned about the spacing and he is having pain, it may not be a bad idea to consult your dentist. Perhaps there are adult teeth coming in, or something else going on that is causing him pain. The dentist can tell a lot about what is going on by doing x-rays - ours told us our son would be losing a bunch of teeth all at once and soon, and she was right on the mark :) Good luck!

Reply:Your dentist must have seen you before deciding to extract your wisdom tooth. There must be lack of space in your jaw to accomodate your teeth in the jaw. After extraction the condition may improve or may not. Need to take measurements before any suggestion. So first remove the wisdom tooth then your dentist may decide what to do.

Reply:A lot of research have shown that wisdom teeth do not cause front teeth to be crooked, n once crooked, they prob wont straighten unless with braces. Crooked teeth most likely are caused by a jaw too small to accommodate the teeth. N teeth do not move that fast.. it take quite a while. :) N braces dun hurt dat much. i had my braces out 2 mths ago n i didnt feel much pain really.. hehehe

I%26#039;m really worried about how they are becoming crooked (it%26#039;s like the bottom front row of my teeth are %26quot;shuffling like cards%26quot;). This has only from what I have noticed started recently, like in the past few weeks. If I get my wisdom teeth pulled since my teeth haven%26#039;t been crooked for very long will they slowly go back to the way they were?
Also, how long does it take for teeth to become crooked, can it happen fast or does it take a while?

Reply:Your dentist must have seen you before deciding to extract your wisdom tooth. There must be lack of space in your jaw to accomodate your teeth in the jaw. After extraction the condition may improve or may not. Need to take measurements before any suggestion. So first remove the wisdom tooth then your dentist may decide what to do.

Reply:A lot of research have shown that wisdom teeth do not cause front teeth to be crooked, n once crooked, they prob wont straighten unless with braces. Crooked teeth most likely are caused by a jaw too small to accommodate the teeth. N teeth do not move that fast.. it take quite a while. :) N braces dun hurt dat much. i had my braces out 2 mths ago n i didnt feel much pain really.. hehehe
Reply:Mine were pulled in my 20%26#039;s. Now 50%26#039;s and now my teeth are starting to drift apart.
If they bother you, have them pull them, if not, leave them. New braces now, no one can tel you%26#039;re wearing them. BUT $$$!

White Teeth?
I have braces and I really want white teeth
my teeth have always been yellowy so I%26#039;m working on brushing
right now im using arm and hammer extra whitening
just started so i cant really say
i cant use white strips or any whitening thing either
my friends have white teeth but a couple of my friends who have had braces have literally solid white teeth while some just like like translucent white teeth..
what is your trick for white teeth? :)

You have a dentist in the family and here you are on this silly forum getting answers from some people who know pretty much nothing.....weird huh?
There are NO toothpastes that will lighten the color of your teeth. They can only remove surface stains despite all of their claims [toothpastes are considered a cosmetic item and, as such, aren%26#039;t regulated]. The only way to lighten the color is with the Whitestrips [which you can%26#039;t use with braces] or with custom dental trays and professional materials [which you can%26#039;t do with braces either]. Sooo, your best bet, until the braces are off, is to just keep your teeth clean with your toothbrush and floss and go to the dentist for regular cleanings.

6 teaspoons baking soda
1/3 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons glycerin
15 drops peppermint or wintergreen extract
Mix together into a paste and store in a container you can get a toothbrush into. It%26#039;s very fresh tasting, though a little salty.

Having 4 Wisdom Teeth Extracted Along with 5 other teeth...?
In a little less than two weeks, I am going to be having oral surgery to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed... one has already grown out of the gums, one is still in the gums, one is impacted and one is beginning to break through. Along with having my four wisdom teeth removed, I am having the tooth next to each of my wisdom teeth removed and a tooth three away from the wisdom tooth that has already grown out of the gums... I will be under IV sedation and will have stitches that dissolve. I am wondering what my recover time may be for having so many teeth removed at the same time. And, how easy will I have to take it on talking? I am planning to have four days of recovery after the surgery from work. I work in a juvenile detention center and at times I have to raise my voice... as well as occasionally having to talk a lot. During intakes, we have a lot of paperwork to go through with a juvenile. How quickly will I be able to raise my tone and talk for extended time?

Give yourself 6 to 7 days, even with pain medications. Then re-asses how you feel.

Reply:I had my wisdom teeth out about 1 month ago. Under sedation you will probably go home and rest for a couple hours after. You will be so drugged up you won%26#039;t care how you feel. Most Dental Surgeons will prescribe a pain killer for you, so have a friend pick that up while you sleep. You should stay pain free for a couple days then it wears off.
Just wondering why they are removing those molars? Usually they don%26#039;t take teeth out unless they are decayed beyond belief. Check into that. Good Luck
Reply:Sounds somewhat similar to what I had done, except mine was all 4 wisdom teeth, and only 1 additional, but, close enough, I also had IV sedation.... same as you will.
Pretty much, as soon as the wounds stop bleeding you%26#039;ll be able to take the gauze out of your mouth and talk. For me, when I got home it had stopped bleeding, some have bleeding for longer, but if you do, you can also try applying a used teabag to the wound, and theres something in the tea that will help it heal.
Other than that, as long as you%26#039;re on painkillers, you should be able to talk normally without any problems. The problems come when you%26#039;re off painkillers, since youll have an extremely limited motion of your jaw, and it will hurt to move it. I would suggest trying to stretch it out as much as you can while the painkillers are working, since that will help with your range of motion. I noticed, that full range of motion in my jaw didnt come back for about a month (give or take a week), so that could limit how loud you can talk comfortably, but, it pretty much comes down to.... with painkillers (i was taking vicodin and ibuprofen) youll be fine, without, might be a month or so.
