Baby teeth...?

i was told that when babys are starting to teeth they start munching on whatever they can and they drool alot. well my daughter is only 2 months old and i noticed a couple of days ago that she will suck on her hand or bit at her hand, which she has never ever done that before, and now she has ALOT of saliva, she has been doing this for just about a week accually. when i look into her mouth, way in the back i see white on her gums, but i thought that babys get the front teeth first, i felt around in there and on the side i felt a little poke but i couldnt see it well enough to see if it was a tooth it was so tiny. i tryed to make a doctors appointment for her but her doctor is out of town so they gave me an appointment day for like 2 weeks from now (i hate her doctor in the middle of finding a new one) but i just didnt think that she could be getting her teeth this soon, has anyone ever had a baby that got there teeth really earlyer like this?

Baby teeth...?
No Dear

Babys can get teeth at any age even when they are born some have teeth. I knew one friend who baby after she was born had four front teeth and the same thing happen to all her children she had when they are born. You can get these baby cookies that only go to mush when sucked on..or you can find a teething ring that you can put in the freezer and then give it to her as that will help with the soreness and pain. but not every baby in the world is the same. Here are some ideas you may like to look at.

Reply:It could be teeth, all babies develop at a different rate. Little known fact -- there are some babies who are actually born with a tooth or two.
Reply:Babies are born with teeth "buds" (they actually develop in utero under the gums, although some babies are born with a tooth or two like the previous poster said) so it is possible for a child to teeth as early as two months. I haven't heard of them getting molars first but I'm sure it's possible, especially since you felt a "poke." That was how I noticed my son's first one. My SIL's kid had six teeth by the time he was 5 months old.

Babies like to chew on everything, hands, toys, whatever, as that is how they explore the world. So, even if a child isn't teething they will most likely still bite things and put everything into their mouths. Of course, once they are teething they also chew a lot as this helps relieve pressure on the gums etc.

The drooling can be associated with teething although in the beginning, babies don't know how to swallow excessive saliva, so it all drools out. My son drooled constantly for his first 4 or 5 months but didn't actually start teething/get his first tooth until he was 7 months and didn't start drooling again until now (9 mos) as his first top tooth is coming in.
