Baby teeth?

my son is 8 months old and has 2 teeth on bottom and 2 teeth on top...is this the average for his age? Also between the 2 of his top teeth...there is going to be a small gap...is that normal?? and how many parents actually brush their infant's teeth?? when my daughter was an infant...I did not and now she has 8 and has great teeth...I let her brush them with my help starting at 1 and a half

Baby teeth?
Sounds pretty normal to me. The gap is actually a GOOD thing. That means his teeth will be spaced out and he probably won't need braces later on. I wouldn't brush his teeth. It's not necessary until they're 2 or 3 years old. That's why you don't see infants at the dentist's office.
Reply:some kids are born with teeth, so your son sounds pretty average. Gaps are good for teeth. You should brush your baby's teeth. They make special brushes for babies.
Reply:your son's tooth growth is great! it's just like all that other stuff---there is such a big window of time for whatever is "normal"...my sister had no teeth at a year old! and i have an 8 and a half month old now that has 8 teeth! i think it's just perfect. he has a giant gap between his front teeth and the doctor told me not to worry. i don't brush his teeth and i did the same with my older son (who is almost four)..i started around a year and a half. you sound like you're doing all the right things to me!
Reply:Four teeth at 8 months is normal. You should start brushing those teeth. I use to give my babies a toothbrush with toothpaste made for kids to chew on during their bath time. That way I wasn't holding them down and forcing the issue. I have 3 daughters age 30, 28 and 24, no cavities yet!

Have fun with your little ones....
Reply:1. My daughter is 8 months old and has only 2 bottom teeth, but i can see some little buds for the 2 top ones.....(yeah, your baby is normal....and so is mine)

2. Baby teeth come in all gappy and crooked...don't worry about it.
Reply:I believe that is just fine for his age. my baby girl is 7months old and has two bottom teeth. I'm not sure about the gap.?? You should be using a tooth and gum cleanser for your baby. it's available at babies r us. your babies teeth need to be cleaned just like yours. when he eats and drinks juice the residue can rot the tooth enamel.
Reply:There is a tooth brush made by SAFTY FIRST that is a tooth brush/teething ring. I let my daughter have this from real young. She had one to play with and one that I used on her. They are in a shape that can not be pushed into the back of their mouth and cause damage. They suggest regular dental care from a dentist starting at age 1 now, and dental care to the gums and teeth at exposure. I think your son sounds normal.
Reply:My daughter is 3 now so I can't remember how many teeth she had and when but PLEASE don't listen to a couple of these people who said that you don't need to brush his teeth until he's 2-3 years old...THAT'S 100% WRONG!

Their teeth need to be brushed as soon as they get them. Sure they are baby teeth but you can still get cavities in them plus it can ruin permanent teeth later on.
Reply:Get pliers and pull them out so you won't have to worry.
