Wisdom teeth?

Hi my wisdom teeth have been coming through for quite some time. Untill recently the pain has been slight, but the last few days one of them has really started to hurt. Ive been having to take pain killers regularly for it and I cannot chew on the side of my mouth effected.

The tooth which is hurting has been partially covered with skin from my gum, but when i looked this morning, there is now a gap forming between the tooth and my gum. It is a black gap.

Is this just the tooth pushing up through the rest of my gum? Also ive read that it will continue to hurt untill i have it removed as wisdom teeth are genrallly to big for the mouth. Is this right?

I dont really want to get them removed, will it get any better once it is through?

Thank you

Debxx

The gap is normal. However, sometimes food/bacteria can get caught under the gum or slight swelling can cause you to bite the tissue making it very tender, ulcereated, and sore. Warm salt water rinses and brushing the area gently can help and it should calm. However, sometimes the tissue can get infected from all of this trauma/food/bacteria swell larger, be extremely uncomfortable, pus sometimes comes out when you press on the tissue, and sometimes you can even run a fever. This needs an antibiotic and you should see your dentist.
Reply:im 17 and my wisdom teeth are coming through right now..

hurts like a b**ch , i just rub some bonjela and the pain goes away.. but my pain is minor
Reply:You should prorboly go to the dentist and ask. Yes it will be much more painless when they arent growing and pushing through your gums.
Reply:go to dentist mate quickly!!!

im sat in n bored on laptop cos mine are killin me!! comes in little phases, prob have nothin tomorrow but i got a bangin headache now!! :(
Reply:It depends on how much room you have in your mouth. Jaw pain itself usually occurs before they come in if theres not enough room. See your dentist. He or she will be able to tell you if they need to come out or not. I am 14 and i had mine out.. its not too bad. They knock you out and you wake up numb. It takes only a few days for it to heal too.
Reply:I'm not a dentist, but have had my wisdom teeth removed after having similar pain %26amp; symptoms as yours. You will likely have to have them removed. Wisdom teeth don't automatically have to be removed, but generally what happens is that they're too big for your mouth and start crowding your other teeth, causing a lot of pain. The only way to eliminate the crowding and the pain is to remove the wisdom teeth. Therefore, you will have to have them removed.

Short answer: go see a dentist. The pain will likely only get worse if you don't.
Reply:A lot of people have to have their wisdom teeth removed if they are growing in wrong. A fried of mine is havong a problem with hers %26amp; has been referred to the hospital.

Get yourself to the dentist asap before they start affecting your other teeth. Once they are removed, the pain will stop - my brother in law had them out.
Reply:Just get them removed. Wisdom teeth tend to get worse with time... the teeth can grow in weird directions, pushing into other teeth, or the roots getting all jacked up into your jaw.
Reply:hi i am also gettin my wisdom teeth, dunno why they are called wisdom its not very appropriate haha

the left ine has 3 corners out and a bit of skin this is no longer sore but my right one has only a little poked through and is killing me i also cant chew on this side

my dentist said they can take a while to come through but no not all wisdom teeth are too big and have to be removed. the sentist recommended a soft childrens brush to remove food/bacteria etc and also to rinse with salt water and clorhexidine wash

have you tried oralgel it is stronger than most gels or codeine containing tablets they are stronger than most

seek advice from you pharmacist first though

good luck
Reply:First of all, wisdom teeth are considered well knowledgeable. That's why we called it wisdom teeth.

Removing a wisdom tooth is the easiest thing to do. No pain removing the tooth, but you will feel a little pain afterwards. believe me or not, the pain that the wisdom tooth was stimulating was greater than the pain when I had it removed, and it takes 4 to 5 days to completely heal. Just remove the wisdom teeth. The reason Wisdom teeth are troublesome is because they think they have more knowledge than the rest of teeth in your mouth.
Reply:You must go to your dentist you may need antibiotics, the same happened to me with a flap of skin over my wisdom tooth, i eventually had to have it removed, i still have my other wisdom teeth and they have caused me no bother.
Reply:It might, hopefully for you it will but it can be a painful process, some people simply opt to have them taken out for this reason.
Reply:Go see a dentist. Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth taken out. I was lucky, mine came out in the correct place. But I do remember it being painfull while they were emerging. Since then no problems or pain.

Makes you sympathise with babies teething doesn't it. Imaging your whole mouth feeling like that and not understanding why.
Reply:Sounds like it's impacted, where half the tooth is out and the other half cannot come out. I had the same problems. I ignored it for about 2 or 3 years and the pain just gradually increased. Mines were head, jaw, and ear aches. It hurt so bad at one time that it woke me up in the middle of the night. Yes, sounds like you have to too. It'll cause overcrowding and pain. Go and get an xray. I got mines out last week and I was asleep so I didn't feel any pain nor any memories of it. But once they were out, all the head, ear, and jaw aches disappeared. Good luck!
Reply:im 14 mines has been growing to in the back of my mouth it hurt sooo bad them some of my gum came up it has stop growing it's fully growed out but not the size itr should be not sure if mines is done but another side is starting to hurt
Reply:Wisdom Teeth need to be taken out. Yes, for most people, wisdom teeth are too big. It could cause major jaw and oral problems. I think it's time to talk to your dentist about it...now.
Reply:i'll be having my 4 widom teeth removed on friday and im freakin scary..but i know the pain will gain...;)
